Jon and Kate Gosselin will finally get justice on 'Law & Order'

Sam-Waterston-Kate-Gosselin_l

Even the venerable Law & Order is not immune to the — well, “charms” isn’t the word, is it? — the mess that is Jon & Kate Plus Eight, Kate Plus Eight, or the current talk-show saga I call Jon & Kate Against The World.

On Oct. 16, Law & Order will air an episode entitled “Reality Bites,” in which a ripped-from-the-headlines couple are divorcing and, according to reports, the Kate-like figure is murdered, with the Jon-like character a suspect.

Law & Order has been having a great season so far. (Did anyone catch its season premiere, with Sam Waterston taking on government officials who sanctioned torture?) I’m going to get an advance peek at the Oct. 16 episode soon, and will report back.

Do you think the Gosselins are a torture even the great Waterston cannot handle?

  • I can’t wait for the next J&K update!

How many farts did Jon let today?
Will Kate decide on a new hairdresser?

    • Elizabeth

Sometimes I wished L&O didn’t always “rip from the headlines”, especially when its so blatant. Its a good show -they don’t need to take this route.

      • Quirky

I agree. I loved L&O and still watch the old reruns alot, but I finally left the show when they started running out of ideas and started to do only “ripped from the headline” shows. The last one I watched was when they did a story based on the overdose death of Anna Nicole Smith. I stopped watching after that becuase it seems to make the show too much like a tabloid.

      • Allie

yeah, i know. i like law and order:svu the best, but the regular law and order and law and order:ci seem to always take stories from the headlines, which is kind of annoying. why can’t they do something original anymore? now i always see “based on true events”. ugh.

    • plushpuppy

      perfect comment!!

      • jenn

Sorry to tell you, but SVU is CONSTANTLY “ripping from the headlines.” As in, nearly every episode. They follow the real story almost to the letter, Benson and Stabler state the obvious, and then at about 9:42pm comes the twist that makes the show different from real life. The Law & Order franchise has been based on the “ripped from the headlines” formula from its inception.

    • Sunnedaze

L&O FROM THE BEGINNING HAVE RIPPED FROM HEADLINES. THAT IS WHY THEY ON TOP THEY HAVE STORIES THAT INTRIGUE US AND THAT WE RELATE TO AND WANT TO SEE. I WISH IT WAS A SVU EPISODE WITH THE BODYGUARD LOL. I LIVE OLIVIA BENTON AND STABLER TUESDAY USA EPISODES HAD MY EYES GLUED.

  • Snarf

Jon will be tuning in, thats for sure.

    • orville

He’ll be ticked off that no one called to offer him a role in it and try to shut down filming.

      • Laurin

Love your comment!! It is so true.

      • PJ

And Kate will then go on every talk show the next morning whining about how much of a victim she is.

      • Clare

        HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

      • Tam

I have to laugh at that one!! he probably would. He is such a butt.

      • suzithecat

        Very funny..

      • KJ

        LMAO…well played Orville!

    • Jackie

      And probably suing them.

      • Arlene Schouten

Maybe they had better hope than J & K don’t ask for royalties.

  • Tom D

L&O may have finally jumped the shark with this story. I can anticipate the plot twist when each of the twins confess to the murder to protect Jon.

    • Kaye

Excuse me but it was one of the twins that called mommy about daddy being touchy feely with Stephanie the bar maid/babysitter in front of them. It was making them uncomfortable and they wanted Mommy to know. Kate didn’t bring it up they called because she was trying to protect them. She should have said something as Whoopi was making a fool of herself but Kate’e first concern is always the kids. How do you think Kate knew what was going on. I guess you think she’s psychic Give us a break and turn off your computer and go read a book. U sound like Jon’s twin & that’s no compliment.

  • Surfdog

    To Elizabeth

It must be difficult writing entirely imaginary crime scripts for 20 years. The season opener dealt with a topic that HOPEFULLY is better known than even J&K+8…nobody complained about that one being “too blatant”. They’ve done it for 2 decades, why stop now. If you don’t like it go watch any CSI (aka: Baywatch with blacklights and eyedroppers).

    • josie

Ha! CSI Miami is just like baywatch. David Caruso as David Hasselhoff! I knew there was a reason I hated that show!

    • Sunnedaze

I LOVE TEH ORIGINAL CSI. cANT STOMACH MIAMI OR NEW YORK AND I AM A NEW YORKER! USA HAS GOT ME HOOKED ON NCIS BUT THE NEW ONE IN LOS ANGELES SUCKED!

    • Elizabeth

I just said “I wished” – yeah, I can imagine its tough to come up with original material, but at times its seems too sensational.
I do like the show, I just think they are better than that.

  • John

The NBC promo says L&O will be back on Oct 23. And I am all over this episode.

  • Dave

That’s why L&O sucks. No original ideas.

  • Jelana

I kind of like the “ripped from the headlines” stuff. Whenever something big happens, I imagine what the L&O treatment will be. I have to admit, I didn’t guess this one in advance.

  • Mousei

We live in such a misogynistic society that the Kate character has to be killed? Not the dumb as a post, I do whatever the person standing next to me says, character?

  • lori

No seriously!!! Do NOT give Jon any ideas, he is mentally unstable as it is :(

    • linda

      I totally agree.

    • Dave1955

You’d be mentally unstable, too, if you’d had to live with that shrew for a decade, and had her constantly rip you apart on national television.

      • Andee

Dave, you’re a bitter man. As we’ve seen, Jon was just like a big 9th child. No wonder she yelled at him, he’s a thickheaded moron. If he were an adult, she probably would’ve treated him like one. Btw…TLc edited the hell out of that show to bring forth the yelling at Jon. Geeze, you must think there’s a Santa Clause, too.

      • irvin

        Wait WHAT!!!!
        There is no Santa Andee?
see that’s why I say there is no justice.
I think that it didnt bother Jon until he started making some money and read what people were saying about how he was supposedly being treated. That is when is decided he didn’t want to be treated like a kid anymore, until then he was happy being told what to do, because until that point he really didn’t have any responsibilities.

Wow, I still cannot believe there is no Santa I’m heart broken, then say people will say is, “Law and Order, started to rip stories from the Head Lines.”

    • Tam

      lmao

  • Mary

L&O has ALWAYS been “ripped from the headlines!”

    • Kaye

I’ve watched L&O sinve day one & that’s what that’s what how all their shows have been.Remember the OJ one. It’s shows how stupid that other person was. Open mouth before engaging brain.

  • Dave

Yeah, that season premiere with McCoy deciding to take on the former Bush administration – that was classic L&O. I happened to catch the Saturday night rerun when I was sick that weekend – made the flu totally worth it. Van Buren’s reveal was a punch in the gut, too, eh?

  • Jon

Maybe this episode will serve as a warning to Kate

  • George

Even when they do one of their “ripped from the headlines” story lines (which they ALL are, by the way, most of them are just less familiar), they always take some major departure or add some out-of-the-blue twist to it. It may be essentially about the Gosselin shenanigans, but they’re make unique and stand-alone, like they always do.

  • david

Is Jon a mongoloid? His appearance, behavior, and general lack of intelligence suggest he is indeed a mildly retarded boy. Having 8 kids would certainly qualify him for a gold medal in the Special Olympics! Good job Jon!

    • suemny

Mongoloid is not politically correct. Anyway, Jon Gosselin is just plain stupid…dumb as a box of rocks. He has been trying to clean up his act lately, but still shoots himself in the foot every time he opens his mouth! Having Jon appear in the Special Olympics would be an insult to the participants!

  • Yvonne

Law & Order is too good a show to rely upon these silly “ripped from the headlines” to sustain it. Kate & Jon? Give me a break. Wolf and company have much better fodder in the news to utilize.

Perhaps this means that L&O is really coming to its natural end.

    • John

Hello Yvonne. Have you been watching L&O for the last 20 years?

    • Alan

L&O always does this type of thing. It’s why I hate it. “Ripped from the headlines” is just another way of saying “Can’t Think of any new Storylines, so we’ll just copy”.
