David Letterman, with 'heartache and embarrassment' and wit and strength, re-frames the media controversy, magnificently

No joke: Last night’s Late Show with David Letterman was such a superb hour of television, from his opening monologue to his goofing around with guests Read the full post.

Too much money and too much power makes crazies like Letterman and Clinton, and half of the US Senate, sex crazed morons

I think there are lots and lots of people without much money or power who have sex all the time. With various people. I guess most of us are sex-crazed morons, hunh? Well then, sounds good to me.

I LOVE David Letterman. He’s my favorite in late night, but I also think he’s intelligent, very funny (and smart about what he thinks is funny, and making him laugh is a huge deal) and actually a nice man. That’s why his staff loves working for him.

He’s the kind of man who didn’t make his staff come back during the writer’s strike, and paid them personally — anyone remember that??

Oh my! A rich a famous person had consentual sex with people who worked for him! Boy that’s never happened before…..As long as all these women say it was consensual, they were never afraid for their jobs if they said no,-and no one has come foward as of yet saying they were-then I fail to see what the big deal is. It is b/t Dave and his wife and the women he had relationships with and it sounds like he has been faithful since his marriage. Its not like he’s a politician that has run on family values and then got caught messing around…..egad, get a grip America (or is it just the press who cares…..)

I love Letterman. Always have, and unless his relationships step forward claiming harassment, none of which have by the way…. I always will love Letterman.

Remember back to the opening speech Dave gave when coming back after 9/11. Dave can really open up and be honest and real.

Dave did the right thing last Thrusday and again on Monday night. He continues to grow as a human being and the combination of his humility, candor, determination to not be taken advatange of, and self-depreciating sense of humor throughout are character traits that are admirable. We can learn from Dave and how he continues to work through this incident. I wish the best to Dave, Regina and their son. Hopefully his son (being in his first week of kindergarden) is getting spared from this ugly attack on his father.

It was a good hour of TV. Letterman is the king of self-deprecating humor – I howled when he said “Let’s see what’s in the news…Bill Clinton…ummm, Mark Sanford….uhhhh, Elliott Spitzer……hmmmm…
Loved Steve Martin, the guy might be the most talented guy around, and is there any instrument that is better in a time of controversy than a banjo ( reminded me of Martin’s Nixon bit) – but anyone else see the Letterman flirty teasing of young actresses in a different light now?

MediaCurves.com recently conducted a study comparing viewers’ ratings of David Letterman’s sex scandal confession and his apology to Sarah Palin last June. Results found that that viewers perceived Letterman’s recent confession as more sincere than his apology to Palin. Letterman scored higher on likeability, believability and sincerity scales when viewers rated his recent confession, compared to his apology to Sarah Palin in June More in depth results can be seen at:

I’m starting to rethink how Ross the intern got so much screen time now.

    DAVE’S A CREEP! (Always was…always will be.)

Look, if he had drugged and then raped a 13 year old girl, then there would have been a crime. As it is, he had (consensual, by all accounts) sex with co-workers. If that is a crime the prisons are going to be stuffed full to overflowing. It sounds like he had a good time, and the only real hard feelings seem to have been displayed by a disgruntled ex-boyfriend. All of the people who are getting up on their high horse need to get a new, and better hobby. He’s not a Catholic priest molesting the altar boys, he is not a schoolteacher screwing his pupils, and he is not a rapist (or at least no one has made that claim). He is a guy who (possibly because he has a sense of humor) has been attractive to women over the years, and who had a little trouble keeping his pecker in his pants on occasion. Dumb? Possibly. Dangerous? No.

Dave’s a great late night host and who cares about what happened – thats between him and his wife. Bob Barker did the same thing – WHO CARES!!

I honestly don’t think some of you would be satisfied unless he were to pull out a gun and blow his brains out on live television. And if Dave were to do that and satisfy you, some of you would dance in the street. That is frightening and sad and I don’t want to trust you around children.

I can’t watch his show any more. He is a serial cheater and everyone on his staff knew it. And since they knew sleeping with him would help their careers, the women all competed to be the next “boss’ pet.” That is known as creating a sexually toxic workplace and by definition is sexual harassment. NOW has called for the show to be investigated by CBS but like they said, I’m not holding my breath because he’s kind of like O.J.Simpson. He could pretty much get away with murder, if reading all your comments is any indication. Go ahead and fawn over him – he’s so funny! – but I can’t forget what he is: a liar, a cheater, and a hypocrite. Ugh.
