Both their slimes cancelled each other out in the handshake.

      • snoopy

both men are far classier than you two cyber dwelling sycophants will ever be, Albert and mc.

  • El

Paula, I believe for most of the women, their position was “missionary”…

  • docgfd

Looks like Sarah Palin gets the well-deserved last laugh !!!!

    • GinaBallerina

Ooo good one! She called him a perv and had no idea how right she’d be!

      • Jack

Every dog has his day. Even W was right about something at some point.

      • James

Having sex makes him a “perv”? I guess that makes you a virgin “GinaBallerina”?

    • ssssue

Sarah Palin is the last laugh!

      • JChristopher

No no … you’ve got it backward. She’s the joke.

  • Traci

I like Letterman, but this story really disturbs me. If this took place in any other office, there would at least be an HR investigation and maybe some dismissals. CBS has made no mention of this and that is just wrong.

    • PR

if the women involved had a problem they would have filed a sexual harassment suit with HR, like that woman at Fox did with Bill O’Reilly. don’t believe they would have been afraid, not these days when the said women could have sold her story to the tabloids. these were most likely consensual affairs, that probably happened over time before he married his wife. its unfortunate for Regina, but since she has been with him for 20 plus years she knows what kind of man she has and accepts things as they come. or for all we know they have knock down drag out fights about it but still continue to stay together as MILLIONS of other women do around the world. don’t get self righteous people. as i always say all men are dogs. ladies don’t ever think it will never be your man, wake up.
I still love Dave and he handled this just fine. and he will have to endure the mocking and what not, but that is part of the territory or since most men do things like this he will also get a lot of understanding.
bet he gets calls from Clinton, Sandford, Spitzer, etc. saying welcome to the club.

      • D

I don’t think he belongs to that club if the events happened before he was married. Sorry.

    • thalia

Well, the head of CBS (Les Moonves) marrieda CBS employee (Julie Chen), so I doubt they’re going to investigate. I feel like workplace romances between superiors and their underlings are fairly common. As long as they’re discreet no one really makes too much of fuss.

If I’m disturbed at all it’s because one of the women was apparently Stephanie, who he’s had on the show multiple times. I had always enjoyed their rapport but I thought it was more like an uncle and niece than anything. I’m disappointed and I’ll probably think twice when he fawns over female guests but all this really shows me is that he’s human.

      • Meli

That’s very true, Thalia. And let’s remember Bob Barker played around with the Price is Right models several years ago and he didn’t get fired. In fact it made him kinda cool that he was a stud with this group of beautiful women.

Let’s also remember that unless there are specific rules either at CBS or at Worldwide Pants that ban relationships between employees or bosses and employees, the only potential wrong Letterman may have done would’ve been to Regina, and that is their business and theirs alone.

      • D

Was never that fond of Stephanie actually. Not sure what he saw in her as far as putting her on the show was concerned. She was no Biff.

    • janes

On MSNBC, CBS called during a piece to assure that there was no sexual harassment violations of any kind. Dave might have cheated on his girlfriend, but there is no reason for anyone to think that he forced these women. He’s a charming guy. The only one who should be upset about this is his wife. People need to get over it. He’s not the only person to have ever strayed. He came out about it and was very honest. He shouldn’t have had to tell us what happened, but sadly, he was forced into it.

And for the people saying Sarah Palin was right.. I’m assuming you’re all virgins who have never done anything sexually with anyone? He didn’t do anything illegal thus she isn’t correct. As always. And he has every right to make jokes about politicians affairs. He’s a comedian. Its what they do.

  • Danielle

Letterman only got married in March of this year. He may or may not have been cheating, settle down.

    • Daniel

Danielle – he’s been in a relationship with her since 1986. He was cheating.

      • Q

Do you know the terms of their relationship? I don’t. Maybe it was open. Maybe he already told her about this, and she’s forgiven him. It’s none of your business.

      • jk

Q – it’s our business when his sexual relationships become news and he talks about them on his own show. Daniel was making a valid point, and regardless of the other implications of Dave’s relationships with his employees, I think it must be quite embarrassing for Ms. Lasko, the mother of his child … even if they had an “open” relationship, the public didn’t know about it before this.

      • K

His 20 year relationship was notoriously on and off. There has been no reports of cheating. Why does everybody jump to such conclusions?

    • KFed

If he wasn’t cheating, there would be little point in extorting him. He called his own actions “creepy” and said “Sure enough, contained in the package was stuff to prove that I do terrible things”. If he wasn’t cheating then what was he doing that was creepy and terrible?

      • not mc

The blackmailer was trying to publicly embarrass him. Maybe his wife knew–I find it hard to believe that she’d stay with him for 20 years without getting married and not assume he sometimes strayed.

And in his story, he said he turned over the package to police. If there was any indication that his behavior amounted to sexual harassment in the workplace, they probably would have arrested him, too. They didn’t. Must have been consensual.

      • Umm

not mc, sexual harassment isn’t a criminal offense so even if the package showed that he had sexual harassed employees there wouldn’t have been anything that the police could have done to him.

      • D

Worst that could happen for garden variety sexual harassment would be getting fired.

  • Max Bones

Save this for the “who gives a sh*t” channel. The economy is in the crapper and our boys are dying every single day in the Middle East.

    • jk

Dude, if you don’t care, why are you commenting?

    • KFed

It’s true, why aren’t Entertainment Weekly cancelling the TV, movie and music talk and concentrating on the war and economy instead? I mean, that’s what we’re really here to read about. Somebody call E! and ET and TMZ too – they must change their content at once!

    • criticalear

I’m all for sending this to the “Who gives a * * *T channel” – come on, people – priorities, please. Dave met the issue head on, shared it with his audience (you can always change channels, remember?) diffused what could have been a bigger deal and we all went on down the road. If you think women don’t throw themselves on men who have that kind of control and money, you don’t know women. Have a great day.

      • jk

I think you’re missing the point. I just don’t understand why “Max Bones” would come to ENTERTAINMENT Weekly’s website, read an article about David Letterman, and then comment that we should all be talking about the war and the economy … on ENTERTAINMENT Weekly’s website. Get over yourselves. At least KFed understood where I’m coming from.

  • ron fernandez

Mr. Letterman should resign. This is the same man who went after Sarah palins daughter, for laughs. How anyone can watch this man is beyond me. CBS should give him an early retirement package

    • jj11

I am so glad you are not in any kind of position to make rational decisions

      • mc

Shouldn’t that make you nervous instead?

    • not mc

Never heard you complain when the jokes were made about Chelsea Clinton.

      • ssssue

I am so glad you brought this up. John McCain made an absolutely horrible joke about Chelsea a few years ago. It was a joke about her looks and was in terribly bad taste.

    • Jack

Yeah, God forbid this country lose its rich sense of humor over consensual sex.

    • Meli

Oh yeah, Sarah Palin’s daughter, who Mom pimped out to work her campaign for a job that’s not available for four more years. That’s what the daughters were doing in New York when Letterman made his joke.

If Dave is such a sleazeball because he is an adult male who apparently had consensual sex with these adult women, what does that make them? Wouldn’t they be just as guilty in your eyes?

    • ssssue

Sarah Palin is such a “great” mom? You obviously did not notice the VP debate when she took her sleeping baby from her daughter’s arms and turned him to get a good camera angle of her holding him. It was so obvious! The baby was sound asleep and she did not place him on her shoulder in an effort to keep him asleep, but used him as a photo op! She is good at one thing–pulling the wool over the eyes of naive people.

    • janes

If David Letterman has to resign over Sarah Palin daughter jokes.. so should Leno, Conan, Jimmy and Craig. They all do Bristol jokes. Someone who goes on a tour giving lectures about Abstinence only education deserves it. And she was sponsored by Candies which is a clothing company that sells quite provocative clothes to younger women. It is too easy not to make jokes.

  • SilentRage

Extortionists IMO are worse than the people they try to extort, hopefully this guy does some time. Thx Ken for the good recap

  • Victor Doyle

I’ m not surprised. Letterman’s so called humor has really gone down hill over the last few years – and his infatuation with his liberal politics views have become his main point at his humor? But you can tell his attitude is negative as it shows up in dialogue.
His infatuation with Obama shows up in his whole show and though his show is based supposedly on humor – it is not!
He is using the access to a large audience to gain political brain washing and hiding it under the guise of Humor!
People are tired of it – and his mistakes are coming back to haunt him!

    • mc

I remember when his grumpiness was funny…decades ago. It was when nothing personal or political was involved.

    • tgw

Wow, by your logic Glenn Beck is a great comedian.

      • WooHoo

Glenn Beck is pretty funny when he rants on and on and pretends to cry about stuff!! Not saying he has a point or that he doesn’t (I am not an American so I cannot take political sides in your country), just that his emoting is quite funny!

    • Pete

I agree completely…I used to watch his show nightly but have turned off for the past year. If I wanted to watch a “news program” I would have wasted my time on MSNBarackC.

    • JEFraley

So freely expressing your political views on your own show to a volunteer audience is “brain washing”?

    • James

Jeez Victor – watch Fox News much? What did their infatuation with Bush say about them? What does their current fascination with Hitler say about them? Or Sarah Palin? If anyone can be accused of brain washing it would be Beck, O’Reilly and those completely moronic talking heads at Fox. At least Letterman’s audience is smart enough to wait for the facts before forming an opinion – too bad the same can’t be said for Beck’s fans.

  • Ed

I love how Letterman can just rip on people for sex scandals and talk trash about those people. But as soon as he does the same thing. People are gonna come out and defend him. It is a shame really

    • not mc

People have sex, sometimes outside of wedlock. Get over it. And sex jokes are funny. Dave, I’m sure, will be making light of this in the future. He won’t shy away.

  • Jack

mmmm I recall all those Republican senators who mocked Clinton….later they too were caught…..how many of you who are “disgusted” are cut from the same hypocritical cloth…mmmm

    • mc

There’s way too much disgust in both parties to pick a side.

    • Meli

The difference here is that David Letterman is an entertainer. He is not running for political office, and he’s not in a position to impose any false morality on others by force of law. If you don’t agree with his morals, change the channel.

  • GBTtown

Way to go Dave! I was wondering if, in all those years you have had your show, you were enjoying yourself. Unlike P.A.H. above, I don’t need to see your report card on whether they “enjoyed” it or not.

  • Caral

ho hum. another person had sex at work. people have sex. whoopee do.
I like Dave’s take on it, and his approach. I don’t agree that fame = everything public or they should be better than non-celebrity.

    • D

Everyone did a very good job of keeping things quiet until now. I think he treated them well.

  • Christian

It is an easy thing to judge a person on such failings, but power does strange things to both the person that has it and the people that are under its influence. In one instance you are amazed with what people will let you get away with, and in the other you tend to do things you wouldnt normally do. Would have it been better had he resisted? Perhaps, but we are not in any position to judge him.

    • L Paul

The truism that power corrupts appears, well, true. Democrats, Republicans, priests, senior executives, and yes, even comedians begin to believe in their right to live by a different set of standards. Liberal or conservative, religious or atheist — we must all beware of believing in our own invulnerability. We are each flawed and make mistakes. The question is whether we can hold people accountable for their behavior (loss of position, fines, etc.) and simultaneously feel compassion and respect for their humanity. The self-righteous vitriol is just so pointless.

      • Johnny

shhh….. you’re way to close to making sense. That sort of thing isn’t allowed on the internet.

    • Red

It appears you have a very appropriate name, kudos to that. Unlike the self-righteous who misappropriate that designation.

  • Nick

It’s not so funny when your family comes under attack is it Dave? Don’t get me wrong – I have always enjoyed Letterman, but the whole Palin daughter thing was a joke – so is his whole political bs he’s managed to work in in the past few years.
