The skits were lame and not because of the acting. It’s the writers who came up with it and seeing how they had five new writers and they still had the same stupid crap? You can’t blame Megan Fox for that.
I agree, she can only work with what is given to her. She’s not a comedian. One of the worse episodes I’ve seen was with Seth Rogen.
Ooo, yikes, that was awful.
I just saw Jennifer’s Body and Ken Tucker….it was awful. The worst movie I’ve seen in awhile.
I’ve seen worse shows, and I’ve seen better. Scary that Kenan made me laugh the most.
I think it’s funny, you will see people come in here saying the show hasn’t been funny since (insert name here) left, yet they keep watching it.
For the same reason Charlie Brown keeps trying to kick the football when Lucy promises THIS time she won’t pull it away. They keep hoping that THIS time the show will be funny.
I think you nailed it. Every once in a while SNL still has a sketch that makes me laugh until there’s tears in my eyes. They seem to be further and further apart these days, and none in sight last night. Sad that the most interesting piece was U2′s last (broadcast) song, and they were running credits over it, and cut it off.
I’ve been watching forever. While You never know if a show will be good, you can always hope. More misses than hits. Sometimes you get gems, like with Timberlake.
The good thing is Timberlake owns a place in New York city now so whenever you hear he’s in New York there’s always a chance of a cameo on SNL. Unfortunately he’s in LA right now.
People keep coming back because they’re hoping to have a good show like when Justin Timberlake hosted. When the musical guest is the best thing about a COMEDY show, you know you’re in trouble. Fox was ahiight as host, just not funny.
I noticed the f-bomb. No problem. I enjoyed M. Fox. I had never seen her in a movie, and had never heard her speak. Just saw her pics. She actually is quite funny. When she was on Conan the other night, she was quite engaging. Almost seemed like a teenager wrapped up in an adult world.
That was music? Worst noise I have ever had pushed into my ears.
I liked the guy who played keyboards while the Edge was playing guitar. Too bad we couldn’t see him.
I am no fan of SNL. I was too busy in my youth with parties on a Saturday night then to devote time to television. I have watched reruns of the early years of the show and did find much of it pretty funny.
Last night my wife and I watched this season’s premiere and found it quite lame. The sketches were overly long and uncreative. U2′s performance was boring and seemed as if the band was just phoning in the performance.
It’s hard to believe that with the comedic acting and writing talent available this is the best that NBC and television can conjure up.
So wait… I thought Don Pardo retired. So when I heard his voice, and saw that Darrell Hammond had left the show, I wondered if they actually kept Hammond on solely as announcer, imitating the old one. (Tribute or weird?) And yet, Pardo is still listed in the end credits as announcer.
He kind of retired; Lorne flies him in from the west coast every weekend to do the credits.
is that sarcasm? why would lorne fly pardo in each weekend? pardo doesn’t have to physically be in NY to do the voice-over credits. he could be anywhere in the world.
They should have had Justin Timberlake host the premier… he’s hilarious… one of the best hosts ever!
I wish Justin Timberlake was a cast member. I don’t like his music, but I LOVE his sense of humor.
Jennifer’s Body was fun and campy and Fox was great in it actually.
frank, youre comment privileges have been revoked for that one
I respectfully disagree with such a full of sh#t comment.
I’m excited for Lady Gaga
I muted the TV during the Judy Grimes skit, it was the most annoying thing I’ve ever seen. U2 rocks, are you kidding me people? SNL had a good season last year, this year isn’t off to a very good start. Watching Megan Fox was like watching paint dry, but less funny.
You’re a moron, Kai.
U2 was excellent…15 years ago. Now they are desperate and embarrassing.
Ken —
Are we watching the same show? I thought most of this episode was horrid. I don’t find Kenan Thompson funny at all. He does one accent and he does it in every single skit. I wish the show would cut him.
As far as Kristen Wiig — I LOVE the fact that she “pops up all over the place”, at this point, she is the show to me. Judy Grimes always makes me laugh, and your most loathed skit was my favorite skit — I thought “Your Mom Talks to Megan Fox While You Get Ready” was hilarious! Bring back this character with different hosts, please!
I have to defend liking his show every season and yes I have seen them all.Though not that great it is still mostly enjoyable. I admit there were cringe worthy moments and not enough laugh aloud ones, but I did laugh and that’s what counts.
Not a great episode, but not horrible, either. Megan Fox was pretty good. To me, the shocker was that U2 turned in a somewhat disappointing performance. The “f” bomb was pretty funny and, actually, I thought that skit was great.
