Did you see Mel Gibson giving “funny” answers to Jay Leno during The Jay Leno Show‘s “10 @ 10″ segment last night?
Asked by Jay to answer ten “funny” questions such as what reality show he’d like to appear on, Gibson answered “Runway Project,” even though Jay had already said the correct title, Project Runway. Ok, that was probably just a slip of the tongue.
But what about the answer regarding his favorite food, which Mel took as an excuse to attempt a joke about steak “bone-in” followed by a vaguely-worded gay-sex implication, which in turn was followed by some wild-eyed staring at the camera. Combine it with his answer to what part of his body he’d change (“my brain”), his comment about where he keeps his Oscar (something about how it’s a reminder of “how brilliant I once was”), and you start to wonder: Was Mel putting us on, being a charming cad, or unravelling in front of our eyes?
I leave the conclusion to you.

I saw it, and at first I thought it was a joke, but then it got awkward. Booze again?
He wasn’t trying to joke about his steak preference, just to say that he likes steak very very rare.
- Thank you for lntiteg us be apart of your amazing day – you looked so fantastic it was hard to stop taking pictures : )
is THE JAY LENO SHOW still on the air? i thought it jumped the shark about a week ago. when is SUPERTRAIN coming back…i just want to be able to laugh after 10pm…maybe NBC could show one of those fish aquarium videos at 10pm. that’s inexpensive and although it’s not much funnier than JAY LENO, it would at least put a smile on our faces.
SUPERTRAIN – love it! Now there’s a show worth rebooting.
Don’t forget Misfits of Science!
it appeared that he was reading from a card; you can tell by looking at his eyes which were off center was talking for the majority of the time.
I can’t wait EW’s crusade against Leno’s show to end. EVERY DAY there is at least 3 articles complaining about it.
Maybe because the show stinks?
Like your vajayjay, Donna? Get it, Jay stinks, like your VaJayJay. OOOOHHHH, I’m gooood.
uncomfortable was the word that came to mind..
The 10 @ 10 segment is not working. None of them have been any good. And Mel Gibson was crazier than Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah’s couch. Gibson was staring with those crazyman eyes and his jokes were not funny at all.
You have no sensee of humor. Mel Gibson is awesome, and hilarious.
Wow, EW sure seems bent on seeing The Jay Leno Show fail with their incessant articles on how “bad” the show supposedly is. It sounds more like they have some agenda for seeing Mr. Leno fail, rather than an actual objective journalistic point of view. Apparently, the writers at EW haven’t bothered to look at the ratings he’s been receiving this week to see that their opinion is so far out of touch of the views of the actual population. Congratulations EW, you’ve JUMPED THE SHARK.
SOUTH PARK hit it on the head: this guy is a certified whackjob. Wish he’d just go away.
fuck off
I actually think Gibson is agrophobic (fear of heights) and that’s why he was so cautious and tried to give somewhat funny answers, as he said “This is the real deal, this ain’t no phony NBD backdrop.” so acknowledging that raised my suspicion
totally had me humored. i actually felt bad for jay, as he seemed a frustrated after the bit… mel “chief” another one

I think he was trying to be funny but it was just incredibly awkward for everyone involved.
I hit the clicker cause it’s too uncomfortable watching Mel Gibson be erratic and awkward. He needs therapy, not air time.
I agree with you. I HATE when entertainers make you feel awkward and sorry for them. Mel is O-V-E-R. Please go away now Mel.
Shut the FUCK up. Mel is awesome.
Wow, I couldn’t even get through two minutes of that clip. Just painfully bad.
That said, I gotta agree with John. We don’t really need a day-by-day breakdown on this show, EW. lol
