'Big Brother 11': Are Jeff and Jordan getting too close?

Categories: TV Tonight, Television

Jeff_l

Okay, it may not be the most exciting thing to assert, but you’ve got to admit: Jeff is the most likable guy in Big Brother history. That conversation he had with Michele about her work as a neuroscientist was completely charming. Her explaining that she works seven days a week on things like “the sugar component of [a] protein,” and his frank expression of ignorance and admiration was disarming, in a big-dumb-lug way. “I was impressed when I made a Lego castle — with instructions!” he said with winning self-deprecation.

(Okay, stop reading now if you don’t want to know any spoilers about this night’s edition of Big Brother.)

Speaking of winning, how ’bout Jeff getting HOH with those damn “recycling” cans? They actually yielded a little suspense at the start of the hour. The rest of the time, we were treated to Russell going off on Natalie during a poker game. (Jeff seemed as stunned as we were at home — Russell is a time-bomb; I wouldn’t bother trying to back-door him, if I was Jeff. I’d front-door him and stand back when he made his inevitable Incredible Hulk-smash exit.)

Then again, in plotting with Kevin and Natalie to put them up as pawns with the hope of pushing Russell out this week, we were treated to Jeff’s clever comment, regarding the veto competition, “It’s not gonna be a bench-pressing contest.” (That sound you heard were the producers yelling in the control booth, “Get six sets of barbells, stat!”)

I can’t recall a previous BB that had such as trusting a unit as Jeff-and-Jordan, can you? It gives them both a lot of strength at this point. It also makes for more cute moments, as when Jordan, after flirting with Jeff to get him to take her on the Hawaii trip he’s won, confided to the camera, ”kissin’ and cuddlin’… that’s where I draw the line.”

But does cute win a game like BB? I’m getting worried about Jeff and Jordan’s increasing confidence. It seems like I’ve been calling Michele “underrated” for weeks now, and I’m afraid J and J may be letting down their guard just as Michele steps up her game.

Did you watch? What did you think?

And be sure to watch this Big Brother-themed Must List Live that’s already sweeping the nation, starring the best Brother contestants never to actually inhabit the Big Brother house, Dalton Ross and Josh Wolk.

its kevin and natalie who got nominated, not kevin and michele. tsk tsk.

    • klc

Reread the sentence, “Then again, in plotting with Kevin and Michele to put them up as pawns with the hope of pushing Russell out this week…;” the article doesn’t actually say who Jeff put up for eviction. tsk tsk…

    • sassy2009

I don’t know if Tucker updated it after your comment, but the article says Kevin and Natalie, not Michelle.

      • jcdc13

        They fixed it on Monday

    • Tina

I just watched BB on CBS and although I knew who was coming off the block and who was going up, what I didn’t see on BB after dark is Kevin saying in the DR room how he and Natalie are going to back stab Jeff. It pissed me off at first because he believed them and put up Russell, BUT then I guess it really doesn’t matter who he put up, (except Jordan) because next week if Jordan doesn’t win HOH everyone would be going after Jeff anyways. They all know he could win this, so although I am pissed he took down Kevin and put up Russell, what could he really do? It just pisses me off that Natalie or Kevin has won anything. I use to like Kevin, but with him he kept saying “I have played this game up front”, yeah right, you have lied more than once so your as much a weasel as anyone. PRAYING FOR JEFF TO WIN THIS.

  • Zach

Michele is definitely a bigger threat to Jeff and Jordan than Russell. She plays all sides like Ronnie did, even if she’s been loyal through her actions. But she’s also better in the competitions and less likely to remain loyal if Russell goes this week (but can she win a jury over Natalie or Kevin?). Whatever Jeff does, he and Jordan are going to have a tough time reaching the final 2, certainly together but even on their own, because everyone is going to be coming after them at some point. If they take out Russell this week, Jordan needs to win the next HOH and take out Michele. Then they need to keep exchanging HOH like the Donatos (or at least win both the final veto and the final HOH).

    • sassy2009

They need to take out Gnat and Kevin as soon as possible. If either Michelle or Russell makes it to the final two with Jeff (or Jordan), then the J would have a much better chance of winning. Anyone in the Jury House is more likely to vote for Kevin and Gnat to win. (Besides the fact that I would hate for either of those two to win. I would much prefer J & J, or failing that, Michelle or Russell).

    • jcdc13

You don’t hear J & J discussing the jury much on the show. But they can’t take any chances letting Kevin and Natalie advance. They have all the votes in the jury now. Also, if they back door Russell he’ll be against them too.

      • erin

OH MY GOSH!! I was thinking the same thing last night!! If they even THINK of taking Natalie or Kevin to the finals, they will NEVER WIN!! All of their friends are in the jury house!! They need to wake up fast!! It may even better to take Russel to the finals because everyone hates him!!

  • Veronica

I have to concur to what you have conveyed about Jeff being “disarming in a big lug kind of way.” I also feel that being endearing in (in a game that requires guile and imperviousness), could actually be to Jeff and Jordan’s derision. The saccharin is nice for a change and i do think they deserve it, if only just for the positive karma due, for their unwavering kindness. I never understood why I was taken with this show all these seasons, I abhor most reality television, at the risk of sounding terribly elitist here, but I imagine even elitists need escapist fare too..I just hope my invite to the Algonquin table won’t be lost in the post! With that said, I do hope the likable lug will be walking out of the house last with a fistful of half a million dollars…

By the way, I like the way you deconstructed everything here Mr Tucker, it was very insightful and admire your writing style.

    • Bode

      Hey Ms. Elitist,
Don’t you mean it would be to Jeff and Jordan’s detriment, not “derision”? You should look up those words in the dictionary. You shouldn’t try to use words you can’t handle. You’re trying to sound like a smarty pants and failing miserably.

      • zoe

HAHA. Totally agree. Sounds like a complete tool.

  • Mica

I hope jeff and Jordan get together and really stay together they make a good couple and they’ve already gotten all the awareness such as farting in front of each other out of the way.

  • Mike

“Jeff is the most likable guy in Big Brother history.”

Only if you don’t follow the feeds.

    • ETF

Bingo! The feeds reveal a very different person…funny CBS, “The Eye”, has turned such a blind one to those actions and words.

    • sassy2009

I’ve read several of the feeds and he still seems fairly nice to me. Not perfect, but then who is? He’s stayed fairly calm and pleasant, despite having to play with two of the worst houseguests ever (Chima & Lydia).

      • bh

I watch the feeds and the after dark shows… He has had a few small melt downs but nothing compared to anyone else and he still seems pretty likeable to me…what am I missing?

    • Anonymus

Didn’t Jeff have a tirade where he used derogatory words for gays? But they never showed that.

      • jdaniels

Yes, Jeff did go on a tirade calling Russell (and Jessie) a fa**ot over and over again when they were fighting earlier this season, and when Russell (trying to egg him on more) said he should call him a bi**h instead of insulting gays, Jeff said he was calling him a bi**h by calling him a fa**ot! This of course was edited out by CBS to make Jeff seem likable because without him they would have a cast full of unlikable people! But eiter way, the token gay this season Kevin seems to still like Jeff judging by the way he was oggling him last night so i guess if he is ok then its all good! But still…Go Kevin!

    • Tina

I agree with you. If I didn’t watch BB after dark, I would be fooled into thinking Jeff was perfect. He is far from that. He cusses too much, but what gets me is how much a tease Jordan is. She wants everything but gives nothing. Is she really that naive? After listening to her conversations, I think she is not, but sure puts on a great act. I like Russell over Natalie and Michelle. Kevin is growing on me. It was cute the way he “drooled” over Jeff when he was watering the plants. ;)

      • bwaterbabe

I agree with you, Tina. CBS has Jeff looking like a saint. I watch BB After Dark and his a lying, back stabbing, constantly swearing jerk. CBS – how about a little more truth when airing BB 11 in prime time?

    • Christine

I watch BB After Dark and still think Jeff is a pretty good egg. What exactly is his dark side?

      • Tina

How much do you watch BB after Dark? I watch all 3 hours, even when it is boring, like when they show them sleeping. ;) Jeff to me has let that power get to him. I didn’t get to see the fight between him and Russell but heard Russell said he would stab him in the back to his face. Jeff remarked last night he was trying to help Russell but Rus keeps doing all the same sneaky things. That is why Kevin was taken down and Russell put up. But come on, Jeff needs to think straight, either take Michelle or Russell in the final two, that is the way he has to maybe win this thing.

      • bwaterbabe

Jeff constantly berates Michelle. He threatened to stab Russell in the neck. He threatened to set the place on fire after Natalie moved his clothes. His favorite word is f*ck….f*ng this and f*ng that. He’s a self indulgent jerk with a huge ego.

  • shasta

Are you kidding? Jeff have let this power go to his head. Read other sites, people are furious with him. Jeff’s head is not in the game if you know what I mean. Jordan is using him and Natalie will put him in the jury house if BB let him. Everyone says that BB wants Jeff to win and this is fixed.

    • sassy2009

It’s not fixed, it’s his hard work and yes, sometimes luck, that is currently giving him the advantage. Jessie had an easy time of it in the beginning, including challenges that seemed geared to benefit his abilities. It’s part of the BB gameplay, and things can always change. I think the only time BB actively changes things up is to create drama, not to manufacture the results. I like Jeff, but I would have been bored and wanted them to change things up if he had been winning from Day one.

  • Kim from Texas

Thanks for blogging the Sunday night Big Brother show! Is the Jeff and Jordan relationship real? Jeff tried to kiss Jordan after the he won the HoH competition and Jordan completely leaned away from him. Is Jeff being played? Or is Jordan?

  • Cameron

i totally agree i think it is rigged and i think bb wants Jeff to win or the airhead Jordan..I was rooting for them at the begining but i watch the live feeds and showtime after dark and i can honestly say i do not like Jeff or Jordan..I actually stopped watching after Chima left..She was no angel but she kept it interesting

  • Jim

I guess to be the most likable person on Big Brother, you need to engage in homophobic name calling. That’s just sweet.

    • Eric

Homophobic name calling. Oh, noes!!! He wasn’t being cruel. Grow a spine…

  • Michael

Jeff and Jordan Reality Show will come out of this. It would be great and america will watch them date, marry and have kids.

    • bwaterbabe

Jordan is thick as a brick. And when the going has been tough, Jeff has treated her badly. After the show, they go their separate ways although I’m sure they’ll try to cash in. Those of us who liked them initially and who’ve watched BB After Dark, can’t stand them now.

  • Laura

I have been a fan of jeff and jordan since the begining and I kind of still am….they just need to keep russell. Yes he’s a ticking bomb but at least he’s being honest about final four unlike kevin and nat. If jeff bd russell i will officially be team michelle…and that’s saying alot!

    • Deb

Russell is getting scary…you see this look in his eyes when he loses his temper…at least with Chima is was right out there; with Russell he is about to blow and someone is going to get hurt by the fallout.

      • sassy2009

I don’t agree. I think Russell loses it to a point and then something kicks in, common sense maybe? Or perhaps it’s all played out as part of his strategy, there have been a few times where he’s said as much. Chima on the other hand, has never been as focused on the money. She just seemed to want attention, and negative attention was as good as the positive to her.

  • JDMIami

What is with everyone drinking the Jeff Koolaide this season? He is boring, rude, curses like a truck driver and hes a homophobe. Not to mention he is dumb as dirt. Seriously you may want to watch the live feeds and after dark, and not just the edited CBS footage before you label him the most likable BB contestant ever. BTW, the ode to Jeff every episode on CBS is nauseating…today we saw Jeff as sexy gardener…blech. At this point I am convinced that CBS should just give this clown the 500k, sicne it seems thats where we are headed anyway.

    • Ramo

YES. Everything in this post was spot on. Well said. And Ken/EW, most likeable BB contestant ever is and always will be Kaysar. Jeff can’t hold a candle to that guy.

      • Ramo

That being said, I will be repulsed if anyone other than Jeff or Michele wins the game.

      • Pete

Kayser is definitely the most boring and he’s not all that likable either.

      • Kimmer

        Dr. Will. No question.

      • Team Jeff

To Kimmer: Dr. Will (my all-time favorite player) was the best player in BB history, IMHO, but not the nicest. In hindsight, Kaysar probably wasn’t the nicest, but when you’re against such a horrible group as Team Cappy, then you come off as the nicest person in the world. The same this year. The Chima crew were arrogant, CRAZY jerks and most of us longed for their downfall. Jeff may not be the “nicest person” ever, but compared to most of the contestants this year, he and Jordan are saints.

      • jeremy

kaysar cant carry will kirby’s jock strap

      • Deb

Dr Will was definitely not the most liked but he was the most interesting and most fun to watch…he made the whole thing a joke that we could laugh at and was up front that he didn’t need the money and would blow it all on a party with his friends…he didn’t hide his lies and deceit..they were out there for everyone to see.

    • divalicious

Yes Jeff used the f-word early in the season but it’s his actions towards and the way he treats Kevin is the revelation of whether or not Jeff is a homophobe, and based on this, I don’t think he is.

      • KC

yes don’t you think that his actions on the whole are more representative of his character?

    • Deb

The “Jeff the Gardner” was funny to watch; both Jordan and Kevin drooling over him…they were both a bit over the top. I don’t do the live feeds; I just watch the show and read the recaps but it actually seems they do have girls that come on the show that don’t actually have sex under the covers on television…Jordan is refreshing in that sense. Could it be they actually have a BB contestant with morals or is she just totally playing Jeff to keep him on her side…if she is she isn’t as dumb as people all think she is.

      • bh

I think she sincerely doesn’t want to embarass her family by having sex on TV. I believe her when she says she has only been with one guy and needs to be in a seriuos relationship before having sex. I think Jeff really likes her and she is trying to figure out what going to happen there. Could he be to old for her? She keeps saying she isn’t ready to settle down yet.

    • bh

Again I watch the live feeds and after dark and have not seen the things you have obviously. I like Jeff and Jordan. They are real, funny and sweet. Everyone in the house says rude and obnoxious stuff. Everyone schemes. Lydia said offensive things all the time. So did Chima. Jeff gets along fine with Kevin and Kevin seems to have NO problem with Jeff. So whats up?

  • Sandi

Jordan’s voice hurts my ears. Anyway, Jeff seems like an okay player but I’d love to see Kevin win. Right now, best player is Michelle. She’s unpredictable.

    • N

Natalies voice makes my ears explode!

      • bbfan

yes, nats voice is the worst!

      • KC

Only thing worse than Natalie talking is Natalie trying to whisper….arrgh

    • Mort

I would have liked to have seen more of Michelle in her bikini. Jordan also.

  • Jamie

Jeff has got to keep Russell. Jeff can easily win against him in the jury. I think the jury hates Russell more than Jeff. He has got to think long term.

    • Lucy

I agree about Jeff keeping Russell. Even Russell admitted that he can’t win over Jeff, especially with the jury.

    • Big Al

That’s dead-on. The only one in the house that Jeff can win against is Russell. His road to final two may be easier with Russell gone, but if he gets to final two at least three of Jesse, Lydia, Natalie, and Kevin are there and unless its Russell against him – Jeff loses final two.

I *do * like how Jeff has kept his perspective of “its only a game” the entire time, even when his team was being decimated!

  • ImStillToni

Jordan has made it clear that she doesn’t want to be in a relationship and the biggest factor is their age difference. I am so tired of this whole “Jeff and Jordan as a couple” crap. These two remind me of Janelle and Kaysar with a little harmless kissing in between, or Janelle and Howie since Jedi Janey always let Howie kiss her cheek. I follow the feeds and showtime and I actually like Jeff and found Jordan’s gaming more than ppl give her credit for. Yes Jeff does make offensive comments, just like a lot of other houseguests in 11 seasons and many ppl in real life, only WE don’t have mics and cameras to record every second. IMO ppl like Jeff for the way he played the game comming from the underdog position of his own clique giving him the shaft and the entire house bashing him over the tecnotronic (lmao) fiasco. If there weren’t so many unlikeables (Jessie, Lydia, Nat, Ronnie, Chima) this season, perhaps Jeff wouldn’t be so popular.

    • GoddessLu

Hey, maybe Jeff is a 90’s kid and thought Technotronic was really a word (they were a group). Like the way Michele threw Russell under the bus when Jeff asked her if they were plotting to get rid of him next? Russell went deny, deny, deny and 2 secs later Michele was like, well…LMAO. They should worry about her was more than Russell The Muscle.

      • Tina

I noticed that too. That is the second time I can remember where she threw Russell under the bus with her lying. I do expect lying in the BB, part of the game, but hers is down right evil. Russell gets so mad because he is tired of people lying about him and making him out to be the bad guy. Michelle is one evil scientish! (sp?)

      • heyjude-ee

I agree Tina. I caught those 2 instances too. Evil scientist that she is!

      • ImStillToni

HAHAHA I have singing “Put up the Jam” ever since that whole debacable, so I definitely feel Jeff is a kindred spirit since we are close in age. Michelle and Russ continue to throw each other under the bus and then wonder why Jeff & Jordan are hestitant. I won’t spoil tonight’s ep…but I love how J&J talk thru scenarios, how Jeff always follows thru, and how the DRs seem to confirm that Jeff is playing the game (Jordan too, she’s surprised me alot). The more I watch Michelle, the more I see she is playing a good game but her nervous habits are like a bad tell and THAT is why ppl have a hard time believing her…but something tells me she would betray Jordan and go to F2 with Jeff. I would, its a good move cuz everyone in the Jury would vote against him using the coup d’etat due to personal reasons. Say what you will, this beats that horrible winter season.

    • Erika

I totally 100% agree. I am not thinking he is made of sugar and spice and all things nice…we ALL can’t be perfect ALL of the time:).
But he was a total underdog, he hasn’t gotten too wrapped up in it at any point (the game) and I think we have all said a thing or two we’re glad someone wasn’t recording to bash us about later.
