New 'True Blood' blows up real good

It’s great the way nearly every episode of True Blood this season picks up right where the last one left off. Read the full post.

Actually had to stay up late to catch the first 20 mintues over again. Missed it due to the Yankees kicking the living s**t out of the Roid Sux tonight! Go Yanks and Go True Blood!!!

  • Lily

Um Brad, if you don’t like True Blood and think it’s for gays, why are you watching it?? You are not worthy of True Blood – stick to shows like King of the Hill, this post is for True Blood FANS!

    • Bill

Hey now… leave King of the Hill out of this… Brad is from Canada… where the men are men and the moose hide!

      • me

stop it! I almost shot milk out of my nose!

    • Ninek

Why somebody read article about a show that he don’t like?.

Another awesome episode. Love that Godric is the Gandhi of his vampires. Everything he said about coexistence with the humans was very impressive and yet it makes me feel he might succumb to the bomb which in turn will start an epic war. It’s actually a great catalyst for a war. Loved when he said he’s older than Jesus. Jason getting paintballed in the balls, asking who Judas was, acting like an action hero, telling Steve that he’s been in heaven after screwin his wife, and him hugging Bill were all gems. Sookie and Lorena and bill and lorena exchange were pretty awesome. I actually feel sorry for Lorena. I feel so bad for Jessica. And Tara and Eggs beating the crap out of each other after eating that heart suffle was damn crazy. Oh yeah and the song in the end credits was awesome. All the songs so far for this season has been stellar. Kudos to everyone for an excellent episode.

For the record, I love True Blood. But it often has some very clunky writing paired with some sometimes excruciatingly bad acting (Anna, you have an Oscar! Act like you deserve it!). For the first time in recent memory, I did not find myself laughing at something unintentionally funny. Great episode! Maryann scares the crap out of me. Can she be killed?

  • Anyone else notice?

I think Godrick is up to something. How did he get free? Why did Gabe say “it’s me.”? Why did he stay downstairs? Hmm?

    • Michelle

I KNOW!!! I was wondering the same thing too! Why did Gabe say, “Godric, its me” and then Godric killed him? That would have been fine had Godric not preached the whole epi about the vamps not being savages and letting everyone else go. Then he let Eric walk into the trap w/ the crazy christians…doesnt make any sense. That bothered me the most throughout the episode. I LOVE TB!! Eric is so hot!

      • Jenna

you may not have read the books, but in them Godric willingly “meets the sun”. He wanted to die and offered himself to the Fellowship for their lil “event”. We may learn the same thing happened here which would then explain the seemingly friendly comment from gabe

      • ShelleyGrrrl

it’s true that he preached the whole ep about vamps only becoming more brutal, and that is why he DID snap gabe’s neck, the brutality he was showing in his attempted rape of sookie. if he had not done that, he probably would have lived.
and fyi, that entire scene, sookie realizing hugo’s betrayal, gabe’s rape attempt, the neck snap? went down exactly the same as in the book. so the writers obviously know true genius when they read it.

The bomb will go off…and Sookie will suck that bullet out of Eric. Its time for her to get some of Eric’s blood! Too bad Godric isn’t sticking around, the dynamic between him and Eric is fun to watch.

    • BH

Can’t wait to see how they convey the bullet seen on the show. Hope they don’t make Eric out to be too much of a jerk….seems like AB has Bill earmarked for hero and Eric for villian. Like the whole Lorena thing- hated how Eric was responsible for her being there in the show- book version was way better! Maybe Lorena will still kidnap Bill seeing as how she is completely unhinged over him!

      • Pete

I think some of you people that read the books need to realize this series isn’t a recreation of the books. Speaking as someone who has not read the books, the show is absolutely wonderful, AB is doing a great job, and the story has been really good thus far. True Blood does not need to follow the books with a Sookie/Eric romance in order to be successful. I’m thrilled with the choices AB has made, like keeping Lafayette. He would already be gone if AB followed the books. You need to get over your needy attachment to the books. It obviously affects your ability to enjoy a different version of the story.

  • Sandinista

Andy was the priceless one this week as the voice of all that is true in Bon Temps.

Love Alex Skarsgard, but wish he would stand up straight. All that great height and he is constantly hunched over!

    • Momo

I agree but perhaps full height intimidates some of the other actors?? Love Eric & definitely enjoy watching Alexander Skarsgard whether in True Blood or Generation Kill.

    • Marge

I think the other actors are so short (Bill) that he just has to hunch to look down at them haha.

    • MtP

No No- he is perfect. Hunched, straight-backed or otherwise!

  • Lauren

    Poor Jessica!

That being said, it is a tie for funniest moment: Eric’s good ole boy accent vs. Man hug between Jason and Bill. Gotta love it!

  • Jdgon

    Loved this episode!! Favourite lines:

“I’m actually older than your Jesus. I wish I could have met him… but I missed it.” – Godric

“I’ve already been to heaven and it was inside your wife.” -Jason (BAAAWWWWW!)

“You’ve got a lot of Love for him.” -Sookie
    “don’t use words I don’t understand.” – Eric (Awwwww)

The bomb -does- go boom, but what is more interesting is what is the state of the survivors, and what does the “Blond Vampire lady on TV” mean (in the previews) when she says, “This is a national vampire disaster.”

    • Amy Leigh

I believe that some of the vampires are going to exact revenge on the FotS after Luke’s suicide bombing which is what’ll make it a “vampire disaster”.

    • robin

It’s a vampire disaster because the timebomb was a hate crime! There are laws that protect vampires, remember? They are a part of society. The FoTS is breaking the law by taking matters into their own hands. The vampire community is being persecuted like all other minority groups…and that is a hate crime.

  • Jdgon

Oh…. and poor Barry, he tries to help Sookie and gets bitten for his trouble. I think Lorena, (now rejected and embarrassed before the entire Texas nest) might go for Barry? Eeps.

  • Alex

As much as I appreciate EW’s TB recaps, they tend to be ill-informed sometimes.
Eric DOES respect Sookie. Why else would he trust her so much and request her help time and again?
Each episode ALWAYS picks up where the previous one left off.
Was very happy for an Eric-centric episode. Sigh, now another week-long wait for the next episode….

    • Javs

I think most of the viewers understand Eric respects Sookie, but I don’t think Eric knows this, yet. After all, she is human and he is vampire ;D

  • Tracy

I believe just like in the books that Godric goes into sun as sookie watches. He wants to die people. That is the only reason they could hold him. Even though the sub-stories are different. The main plot is still the books.

  • Jack M

The bomb will go off; it’s a parallel plot to what happens in book #2. The Maryann part with Daphne’s heart was one of the sickest things I’ve seen ever! TB continues to shock and delight.

    • Javabooknut

I knew it wasn’t really a heart but I could not watch. It was disgusting. I hate hate hate the maryanne plot.

  • TB 4Eva

I think its GENIUS that Jessicas hyman keeps repairing itself, what a great obstacle for her and Hoyt to deal with…..its adorable that they have been trying to have sex for 3 episodes now :)

    • Javabooknut

Yes it makes sense. But then again shouldn’t eric’s hair grow back then. In the books they always stay the way they were when they died. Which is why bill has long sideburns. it’s inconsistant but still an interesting predicament. No other vampire show I’ve ever seen has dealt with the idea of what would happen to someone that died asa virgin.

      • Javs

LOL. I think I’ve decided that Eric must cut his hair each night. I’ve wondered if the reason Pam prefers women might be because it would be a tad annoying to sleep with men (since, in the book, she would have been a virgin when she was made vampire). Poor Jessica.

    • kim in kentucky

I thought the same thing about the hair — Bill’s maker’s hair has changed length several times in the flash backs — any why did Eric have to cut his hair? Couldn’t they wash the blood out? Or did the combination of blood and highlights cause a funky color to happen??

      • kate

HAHAHA i have never laughed so hard than i did at your last sentence!

  • Michelle

For once, I have no complaints about Eric’s screen time. That, by itself, makes this the best episode of the season. Loved everything Eric related, although the Jason bit was tied with the good ole boy routine for the funniest moment. Godric is made of win. I’m going to be genuinely sad when he dies. Lorena finally got her smackdown! Yay! And can Maryann go away now? That plot is so BORING. Ugh.

    • Javabooknut

I wouldn’t mind if Maryanne and Tara disappeared. So annoying. I know AB felt he needed to make it more of an ensemble but the best episodes are those that center around Sookie and the vamps. Though I do like the Sam Stuff. I hate Tara. Love Jessica and Lafayette!
