The nerve — the gall! — of ABC to bump a new episode of our beloved Better Off Ted last night in favor of a rerun of The Bachelorette finale! (I half-expected ABC to try and repackage it as something new and call it The Bachelorette: Picking the Rose Thorns Out of My Backside.)
Of course, anything Bachelorette gets way bigger ratings than Ted, but you and I have come to treasure our weekly summer half-hour of new Ted brilliance, haven’t we? This last-minute yanking of Ted was an insult to our hardy cult.
Hey, I’ve got nothing against The Bachelorette. It has inspired one of EW’s finest ongoing TV Watches.
But didn’t you think rerunning it, and putting Ted, a show that’s struggling, in limbo — well, doesn’t that make you mad?
And come to think of it, wouldn’t Ted have made a better choice for Jillian than Ed?

So ABC preempted Ted for another round of self-obsorbed sociopaths trying to famewhore, I mean find love? Fail.
Nothing dissappointed me more when I fast fowarded through the entire record data on my Tivo to find no new episode of BOT. That is until I checked Hulu and found that they didn’t add the unaired episode there either.
Yes, quite disappointed, as well. However, I do have something against the Bachelorette drivel they replaced Better of Ted with.
Ken,
ABC actually helped Ted because instead of a weak lead in the final 2 eps will air back to back Tues Aug 11th at 9pm after WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE
Last week’s BOT was the best yet, I don’t recall you recapping it, Ken, did you?
You speak as if there were a plan, Ted. In that case, BoT should NOT have been scheduled last night. ABC should have promoted that. “Catch a repeat of this week’s episode of SkankWhore Island, then come back Aug. 11 for 2 more new episodes of BoT.” I hate you right now ABC, I hate you so much I want to sell my television and join a monastery.
Here’s betting that Better off Ted lasts longer than the Bachelorette’s marriage.
They have to move the brilliant Better Off Ted series quickly. For the rest of the summer, or however many episodes remain, it will be on against both Big Brother and America’s Got Talent. There’s only so much a TIVO can record! So why can’t ABC find a spot where TED isn’t on against the two most popular new-material shows of the summer. Heck, just move it to 8:00 or 8:30, Tuesdays.
Honestly, this was a load of crap. How is it supposed to develop a BIGGER fan base if they keep bumping it for stuff like the bachelor. CRAP
Apparently, the switch caught my cable company by surprise, as well. My DVR recorded “Better Off Ted,” which, of course, turned out to be 30 minutes of the reality garbage.
I just hope that when they do get around to showing the episode, it doesn’t pop up as a “repeat,” which my DVR is not set to record.
Argh I was so mad. BoT is the one show I have most looked forward to this dreary summer. ABC needs to realize that it have a real gem on its hands. They better not be trying to burn it off. Arrested Development lasted longer than we all thought it would because the network supported it as long as it possibly could despite low ratings. ABC would be wise to do the same with Ted.
WHEW! Thank goodness I’m NOT losing (all) my sanity. When I checked the listings yesterday morning, I saw Better Off Ted listed at 9:30, but then when I got home in the evening, all that was listed was the stupid bachlorette. Just when I thought yesterday couldn’t get any worse, they go and shuffle my dear Ted off….for some loser who needs help finding a boyfriend. I hate reality tv.
I was really pissed I had even told a couple friends they needed to tune in last night and I even thought my TV guide might be wrong and was even more disappointed when I turned to ABC and saw the Bachelor crap I turned in less than a min, suck that ABC
Amen..testify dear sir. I was so pissed. I love Better Off Ted! Smart and funny writing needs all the support we can give. I don’t watch “reality” shows featuring skilless Barbies and Kens fending off real employement.
A putrid, rotting, diseased, maggot-eaten lump of road kill has more intelligence than whoever’s in charge at ABC. I don’t care if ABC comes to my house and PAYS me, I have never and will never ever watch a single moment of the Bachelorette.
Yes, lets blame the network for bumping a good show for more reality TV. ABC should try to be more like EW. EW would never push reality crap (American Idol, Big Brother, SYTYCD, The Bachelor(ette), etc.) at the expense of scripted TV.
I was so looking forward to Better Off Ted (one of my favorite comedies out there), and terribly disappointed to discover a Bachelorette in its place. That it was a Bachelorette **rerun** just added insult to injury.
