No reason to apologize Mariah. You were being real with your emotions at a memorial service. It wasn’t a concert so forget about any critics, it doesn’t matter.
I don’t think she has anything to apologize for. She was understandably emotional. She probably grew up listening to Michael Jackson’s music and I’m sure he was a huge inspiration for her. To anyone who’s insulting her performance, none of you have the talent she does and I’d like to see you try to perform at the memorial service for someone you cared a great deal about w/o your voice cracking. Give me a break.
She should apologize not for the way her voice sounded but rather for thinking of it as a “performance” and wearing a low cut cocktail dress. Hasn’t anyone ever explained to her that funerals are somber occasions?
I was surprised because she usually is so polished. But she doesn’t need to apologize. Absolutely not. Very brave of her to do so. But it’s not like people paid top dollar to see her perform. It was a memorial service, not a concert. Dress was inappropriate and she should have apologized for that . Yes Mariah, we know you paid alot for them puppies and you need to have them on display at all times, but for this one time she could have skipped that. I guess the hairstyle was an homage to Farrah circa 1972.
Mariah doesn’t need to apologize for the memorial performance – people could hardly expect perfect performances on that emotional day. However, she must apologize for the years of suffering music fans have had to endure since her comeback with ‘It’s Like That’. What happened?! Her voice is now a pale imitation of her former glory, all husky and shrieking. I swear one of her songs was just her whispering and croaking with some hip-hop dude…Bring back the days of ‘Hero’!
No need for apologies, it was a very emotional moment for all of MJ’s friend. She is still one of the premier performers in the world and has one of the most beautiful voices in the music industry.
why in hell would she apologize for showing heart? Ridiculous. She isn’t Canadian, is she? (by the, I’m Canadian, so I can make that joke)

The ‘little Irish boy’ is Welsh
HAD one of the most beautiful voices in the music industry.
I’m no Mariah fan, of neither her nor her music, but come on people. SHE WAS PERFORMING AT A FUNERAL!!! She got emotional, and naturally that ruined the performance a little bit, but seriously, are you gonna tell me that you expect someone to sing at a funeral like it’s the Grammys? Especially when they had an emotional attachment to the deceased? And I love how everyone is like “Oh, Mariah’s so vain, apologizing publicly just to draw attention to herself”. Yesterday, you guys thought her performance was so bad that she SHOULD apologize. And now that she has, all of a sudden it’s an egotistical gesture. Man, you guys just LOVE to make mountains out of molehills, don’t you?
she was beautiful and her song was a moving tribute. we will all miss him and his songs.
It’s upsetting to hear how awful people are being about the service, which was actually dignified and tasteful. Mariah Carey needn’t apologize, although I’m not a fan of hers, her performance was fine. I found the memorial service appropriate and often moving; the Jackson family did an excellent job, and this was an apt tribute.
Absolutely not! She did a wonderful job considering the circumstances!!
It was a funeral so she toned it down. If she would have sung it normally loud like she usually does, that would have been disrespectful. I think she did very well, considering.
That really wasn’t that bad. I mean, come on, SHE’S PERFORMING AT A FUNERAL! Of course she’s going to get emotional.
