'Better Off Ted' last night: 'If only I were a worm... '

Last night’s Better Off Ted was a cramped affair. When a toxic acid leak was discovered, a whole area of Veridian work-space had to be cordoned off, and workers had to share their offices with others. For Ted, this meant sharing his roomy office with the roomy bright eyes and (trust me, this isn’t sexist, it bears upon the plot) backside of Linda. He thought this would be fun, but Linda proved dismayingly neurotic (trying to teach her pet fish to talk) and lazy. Pretty soon, an unnerved Ted was swilling antacids and plotting Linda’s exit from his office.

For Lem, the situation meant the arrival of a lovely young woman who compelled him to overcome his shyness, flirt, and attempt a date. Not without misgivings, of course: As Lem phrased his ideal life: “If only I were a worm, I could cut myself in half and date my lower half.”

If the jokes weren’t quite as dense and thick as last week’s edition, this week’s Ted was still funnier and had more loony comic logic than any other sitcom on the air. At a time when HBO’s Hung is getting lots of attention because — well, because it’s HBO — Ted continues to be the zingiest half-hour in prime time.

Did you watch? Extra points for knowing what Phil’s shorthand term for “acid interface” is…

The shorthand term is ‘assface’. By far has been the best new comedy on TV

This is inaccurate…Ted didn’t think it was going to be “fun”; he tried to avoid the situation completely.

Linda’s interaction with the fish killed me…
    He can only write “maw-maw”….

I’m enjoying this show more with each episode. Lots of smart humor.

My favorite and most juvenile line of the night was the punchline “ass-goo.” ROFL

Also, Lem sneezing in the lovely lady’s face and then her headbutting him was priceless! LOL

  • Dduellman

    As*face.

  • Dduellman

Why aren’t more people watching this sly and hysterical show?

  • Vetinari

    This show keeps getting better.

  • Theresa

Awesome episode! I love this show and hope people will give it a chance. “assface” and “assgoo”, hilarious.

*ac-face (doesn’t really work when you spell it out)
    >>>He thought this would be fun
KEN CAUGHT NOT WATCHING THE SHOW. :O
Khm.. Either way, great show, i keep asking everyone around me to watch it and ABC to keep it. Former turned out to be very successful, hopefully the latter will have some effect too. :(

When Veronica shot her pillow… I lost it. That was HILARIOUS. Love this show.

“This is what it would be like if God was insecure” Hilarious! I want a Chuck/Better off Ted crossover, where Chuck has to go undercover in the Ted offices and try and fit in.

  • Tamara

    Hilarious!!!!!!
I had to rewind and watch Lem’s sneeze several times. I couldn’t stop laughing.
As well as Veronica shooting the pillow and Ted saying ‘Mother…’!!!!!!
    Best episode of the show.
I love it!!! So sad the ratings are bad. But at least it’s already been renewed for a second season. yay!

Lem’s moment with the girl reminded me so much of Andy Richter Controls the Universe, it was hilarious, the use of the word “exotic” was pretty funny too. I especially liked Linda in this episode, finally she’s not just the pretty girl of the show. Love the show! I’m still puzzled why ABC is dumping these fresh episodes in the summer waste land! More baffling is why ABC didn’t plan on airing these episodes in the initial run!

  • Jen

    “ASSFACE” Love it.

Getting something new (that isn’t a game show, talent contest or second-tier reality show) in the summer in a real treat. BOT is the best of treats–solid laughs and a great cast.
Maybe it will never be a ratings giant, but here’s hoping that it will continue to bubble below the surface for many years to come.

  • Allan

It’s zingy but it’s not very funny.

I love this show, and it’s great to have another funny sitcom in my TV schedule. I’m glad that the show is back for another season, and hope that it takes off in the ratings next year. It’s too funny to be overlooked in favor of duds like Two and a Half Men.

  • Emma

So many good quotes in this one:
“If I wanted to get it on with refracted light I would.”
“He has more issues than you and you poop in your air.”
    and my favorite…
“You are a guest in this office and I can’t have you freaking out every time I fire off a gun.”
LOL!! God I love this show.

  • Ramo

This show is great. IMO it’s already right up there with The Office and 30 Rock among the best sitcoms on TV. Unfortunately shows this good don’t tend to last very long. Spread the word. I know I am.

  • Annie Hall

loved when the tissue burst into flames!

  • brynna

zomg such a funny episode. Was laughing from start to finish!

  • Qwerty

Probably the worst episode of the season, but was still hysterical. This is definitely ABC’s apology for canceling Pushing Daisies.
