i don't know about the book series, but i think the fans maybe a little confused when it comes to sookie and eric on the show... First off, if sookie were to fall in love with eric she'd basically would be going back on everything she's quarreled with bill in regards to vampire justice. Bill ,on the show, is far more sympathetic to the plight of humans and vampires than eric obviously. At this point eric is non-apologetic to how he handles humans and would stop at nothing to achieve his own goals.. That's part of his strength/charm , unlike bill, he does what needs to be done and doesn't feel remorseful. His character would either have to change drastically or stay the same making sookie a bit of a hypocrite. Like i said i'm sure the plot development in the book series makes it an easy transition, but it would be difficult to translate that into the plot on the show, without clashing with sookie's moral center she's held strongly to or weakening Eric's power to enforce.

I love how Erik used Sookie being hurt to his advantage. He just wants her so bad and I love how he tries to act all indifferent.

the show does stand on it's own really well, but since it;s based on the books, every time they leave something out, you kind of lose the story arc. so much has been changed that you can't even explain some of the plot situations because they no longer relate to how the books progress. with that said, if they don't get sookie and eric together soon, i will have to stop watching!

The books are amazing and an easy read. They explain all the backstory that seems to be missing. It will all come out eventually. If you'd rather wait, enjoy guessing and having some fun with your imagination.

Sorry Lori,I have a very good, secure job, lots of friends, and am a pretty normal person. Those of us with an attention span longer than twittering and texting read lots of books everyday. I haven't noticed the nation's top booksellers asking for a financial bailout,so maybe they're on to something!

Lori: you sound so ignorant. I don't know how hard it is for YOU to read a book, but for the average person, it doesn't take a whole lotta effort...

The people "bragging" about reading the books are such losers. Books are OVER. If you have that kind of time you must be jobless, friendless or slightly deformed.

Best line goes to Hoyt" You should try the chicken fried steak, it's like a chickena nd a steak had a crispy baby." I agree they had perfect chemistry, and I hope we see more of that storyline, it was charming. Of course I want more Bill/Sookie/Eric tension too! I am getting bored with the Fellowship of the sun storyline, but I hope it intersects with Bill/Sookie/Eric going to Dallas.

Re: the accents: Considering that Anna Paquin is Canadian and grew up in New Zealand, Stephen Moyer is British, and Ryan Kwanten (Jason) is Australian, I think they're doing a mighty fine job of putting on one of America's more difficult regional accents. It's not just about eliminating a few final 'r' sounds and adding the occasional twang. Regional southern accents put on by out-of-town actors are notoriously awful for being generic or over-the-top, so I think they're doing pretty well, considering.
As for the whole book vs. show thing? Wow...get over it, people. The books, much as I enjoy them, are what they are: lightweight, silly pulp. The show has turned somewhat loose plotlines into real nail-biters and has fleshed out otherwise inconsequential characters and made them so much more interesting. Why not just enjoy the show as an extension of the characters we know and love so well from the books? And as for Eric & Lafayette? Buh-ring it, Alan Ball! Hail yes.
