Last night on the Late Show, Ray Romano was in fine form. After all those years of Everybody Loves Raymond, absence makes my heart grow fonder for Romano, no more so than when he let loose with how his character truly felt about his TV wife. (Check it out near the end of this clip.)
'David Letterman' last night: Everybody loves what Raymond really wanted to say to Debra
Judging from the raucous audience reaction, who among us did not want to say just that to Patricia Heaton’s Debra, especially in the final few seasons?

Actually, I wish SHE had said that to his parents right before she told him she’d leave him if they didn’t move. Which, if he’d had a set, they would’ve done early on. (Though I realize if he’d had a set, there would’ve been no show.)
The show revealed that Debra was the one that wanted to move next to his family. He warned her repeatedly how the were. In fact, even before the characters were married, she knew how his parents were and still insisted on moving near them for the kids. Heck, Ray had wanted to move away for a while, but Debra kept thinking she could change his parents and blamed him when it never worked. You’re right that Ray doesn’t have a sack, but it really wasn’t his fault that they stayed across the street from Frank and Marie.
Ray Romano rocks my world.
Tbh, I wish she would have said that to him – the one thing that bothered me about ELR was him in the lead role. He was SO annoying.
I heart Patty Heaton.
Yes, it was Debra who wanted to live by his parents. But, if anybody had any reason to curse at the other, I’m Team Debra. ELR is one of my all time favorites, but come on, Ray was a jerk. He refused to lift a finger to help with his kids or God forbid he be bothered to do a load of laundry or some dishes every now and then.
More importantly: Which tagline did they use?? I liked “Don’t Panic, Pablo!”

The number one reason why I hate Everyone Loves Raymond and have never watched more than an episode or two is because I found his wife so strident and shrew-ish. Ugh! Why do sitcom wives always have to be such harpies??
Amen, Brother Ray, tell it like it is!
Deborah was the main reason I really didn’t like that show.
In real life he would have divorced Debra, nobody would put up with such an angry person. He would’ve also moved away from his borderline personality mother. Between the hateful wife and the parents without boundaries, I found that show very uncomfortable to watch.
i liked them all,but robert was my favarite he was such a crack up
i thought they were all great but my favarite was robert,he was a real crack-up
Debra was the worst character, especially toward the end of the show. She and Kate Gosselin would have been BFFs for sure… ACK.
My fave part of Ray’s visit when he was talking about his bet with his kids over the show’s ending tagline. But my DVR cut off and I didn’t hear which one the show went with. Anyone know?
