This morning on The View, Elisabeth Hasselbeck said that Jon & Kate Plus Eight should no longer exist (“They shouldn’t have a show”) and that Kate Gosselin should “get a job.” When co-host Sherri Shepherd noted that the Gosselins had essentially given up their jobs to work for their reality show — i.e., that this, in addition to parenting, is Kate’s job — Hasselbeck said vehemently, “I don’t care!… It’s not healthy for the kids.”
“Get the camera off the kids!” said Hasselbeck.
Barbara Walters, who was the only person on the View panel who admitted to watching Jon & Kate, said that she thought that “if you have more than five children, you shouldn’t be allowed to get divorced.”
The audience applauded enthusiastically.
Do you agree with Hasselbeck?

She is right, but Elizabeth should get a job too.

What does she know about them, their kids, or what’s best for their kids??? She’s judgmental, obnoxious and pain in the $#%.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
I hate hasselback everytime she opens her mouth she makes herself sound stupid…the reality show is a job…and if she doesn’t agree with it fine but sometimes she should just keep her mouth shut especially since it was a reality show that essentially launched her career. Get off your high horse elizabeth.
Elizabeth Hasselback did get launched from a reality show. Whats her big deal over Kate? There have been many large families in this country raised by single parents and the children turn out fine. If Kate quit working today and stayed home with her kids fulltime does that gauarentee her kids will be better off? Please get a grip people. Whether you love or hate Kate shes here to stay. Her children are wonderful and she has done a good job.
Not a huge fan of Elizabeth, but doesn’t she design and sell a line of ladies wear as well as her gig on The View? That sounds like work to me (in reference to the poster who said she should get a job).
Kate is at least employable (she’s a registered nurse) – Jon on the other hand lacks work as well as social skills.
With all of the publicity she has I doubt she could actually get hired as a nurse.
Talking for an hour on daytime TV doesn’t seem to be a strenuous job.
She’s able to support her kids from talking an hour on a daytime TV show.
Don’t even try to say that Kate does the same thing, Elisabeth doesn’t use her kids to get on TV
Did I read this right? Is Elisabeth really criticizing someone else for trying to do EXACTLY what she did, capitalize on “reality” TV to get a job they would never have a chance of landing otherwise?
The group over at vostuu found out about this last week and uploaded a “behind the scenes” video of Jon and Kate discussing it with the producers to the over at http://vostuu.com/watch28015.html … they ALSO uploaded the divorce papers for any of you who want to see them to http://www.vostuu.com/file2018451.html
If this is the only way they can get financial support and the kids get some personal time to deal with the divorce then I think it is okay. I think that a divorce is difficult for children whether they are being filmed or not. Getting off a reality show won’t fix their marriage. Also, I don’t think there is anything wrong with showing the kids while they’re doing fun activities like apple picking and stuff.
Maybe Hasselbeck capitalized on reality television to get a job, but at least her job doesn’t revolve around exploiting her own children.
I agree with what she said, but this lesson or lecture should NOT be given by her lol Wow… hypocrisy at its best.

I have to say I rarely agree with Elisabeth, but this time I think she said it best!
I rarely agree with Elisabeth, but this time she got it right.
Elisabeth makes me nuts, but I agree with her on this one. How can the show even go on? How painful will it be to watch? this show helped tear this family apart and they still want to go on with it? The show will eventually end and they will have to fond another way to support their faimly. I suggest they end it now, try and work on their relationship and, as Bitsy said, get a job.
Right…Kate should get a job? So the kids would lose their Dad…and have their Mom go to work everyday? Elizabeth you are such a dumb tool.
Hmmmm……Why did she tell Kate to get a job and not Jon? Sexist much Elizabeth????
I agree, Kate should get a job. Maybe she could replace Elizabeth Hasslebeck on The View. It’s says a lot when even Kate Goesselin is more likeable than Hasslebeck.
This is coming from a person who gained famed by being on a television show as well through Survivor? Elisabeth wouldn’t have been on Survivor no one care about her, just as if Jon and Kate hadn’t had their own tv show, no one would really care about them. She has no right to give advice on life and how to lead it.
I agree with barbara walters, i don’t think they should be allowed to get a divorce! but i also think it’s time they stopped the show and get back to the real world of being a mom and dad to those kids and yes get a job if they have to.
Kate….contine the show without Jon. He has turned into a omplete moron. A divorced, vicitmized (by people who know nothing about her) mother taking care of the eight kids by herself. That’s a true reality show.
without even getting into whether or not a reality show consititutes as a job, hasselback has once again removed all doubt that she is in fact an idiot. a large percentage of women with one child under schoolage are stay at home moms, this woman has 6 plus twins. it would be unreasonable and just bad parenting for her (now as a single mom) to leave her 8 small children to work everyday. besides the fact that (regardless of opinion) kate has earned a comfortable living and laid out a financial support system for her family through the tv show and book tours. if the show isnt considered a job, than consider kate gosselin an author because she has 2 books published that sold incredibly well. hasselback on the other hand is a professional controversy obbsessed pot-stirrer and needs to learn to shut up already! pot meet kettle, your both attention obbsessed moms who put yourselves before your kids.
Barbara Walters had the comment of the day in that those with 5+ children should not even be allowed to divorce.
Kate is a biotch. Care about something other than yourself!!!!! The kids are just her meal ticket!
It is unrealistic to have a healthy, normal life on reality TV. Kate says it was for the kids. I think it was for Kate. That Jon put up with her condescending, disrespectful attitude so long is a miracle.
If they couldn’t support 8 kids on their regular income, they shouldn’t have had them in the first place.
Wait, Barbara said what? To me that’s the shocking comment. So we should force unhappy parents to stay married for the sake of making their kids a witness to their misery? No way. I’m sure this is a decision they did not make lightly, but happy parents are usually better parents.
I don’t know if I agree with the get a job part. It seems that at least Jon or Kate should get a non-TV related job though. However, I absolutely agree that the show should now come to an end. Expecially with the statement Kate released yesterday. I am not sure what happened that “forced” Kate to file, but that comment is out there for posterity and it is a horrible thing to say about the father of your children, with whom you should want to continue a civil relationship.
If it is in ANY way related to the young boy getting stitches. Kate should be very careful, all children have accidents like this and they should NOT be blamed on the other parent.
Kate….keep the show for you and the kids. A victimized, divorced mother of eight. That’s a true reality show. Jon has turned into a moron. Hasselbeck doesn’t have a dog in this race.
A mother having a job on tv isn’t the issue. Your entire marriage and raising your children on tv IS the issue. Get those kids out of this mess and get this divorce over with IN PRIVATE. Elizabeth’s husband and family isn’t on tv with her, therefore her situation isn’t even applicable. I’ve never even watched Jon & Kate and I’m sick of hearing about it.
It should be just as hard and expensive to get married as it is to get divorced.
Then maybe it wouldn’t be taken so lightly by so many people who bail out when the going gets tough.
Hasselbeck should take her own advice
