i didn’t like the show, the old version was more interesting and original. Now its more like Chopped or Iron Chef.I liked the idea of young chefs competing and getting to know them. Now its boring ; whose idea was it to change it? “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”…

I loved that all the chefs were so humble and gracious– unlike most of the usual Top Chefs contestants. But how long will this Top Chef be? Five weeks? If there are sixteen contestants that means that how long it will take and that’s much too short of a Top Chef run (Masters or no Masters).

Oops… 7 shows. Still too short

Besides missing Tom and Padma, I REALLY enjoyed Masters! Much more than I had expected!! Hubert is the MAN but overall, the comraderie between the chefs, that red-haired girl scout, and that those geniuses turned out of a dorm room was nothing short of amazing and hiliarious! Great summer show for Bravo!!!

i was wondering how they would get top chefs to appear without losing face, but having them do the regular Top Chef ridiculous challenges solved that problem. They all seemed to be having a good time, and laughing at themselves (especially at having to negotiate a grocery store). I missed Tom, was so glad to not be subjected to Padma. Her new burger-eating commercial seems to fully show her “talent”.

    Dear Top Chef Masters Producers,
Like many other commenters noted, this Masters version is better than most other summer tv show options. The one aspect of it that makes it borderline unwatchable, however, is Kelly Choi. She is a complete amateur and, though she hosted Eat Out NY, clearly knows very little about culinary technique. She also doesn’t have a very refined palate (let’s face it – the woman looks anorexic – does she even eat?) and her vocabulary is grade school level. But worst of all, she’s just plain irritating and out of place on the show. I guess what my husband and I are saying is: send Kelly back to public access and PLEASE BRING BACK PADMA AND TOM!
    Thanks for listening, loyal Brooklynites

I really miss the original Top Chef. I watch it only because there’s not much else on and I really enjoy the food competitions. But I agree this new set up, makes it a lot like Iron Chef. This just isn’t as exciting to me.

It’s difficult to compare TC Masters with “regular” TC; they are really different shows with very different sensibilities. Both have their merits. I think I will enjoy watching what kind of dishes these pros come up with under what I imagine will frequently be trying circumstances, but I will definitely miss the ongoing character development inherent in the original series.

The new host of Top Chef, Kelly is awful. Scary looking, anorexic, and with an unattractive sneer on her face. Nothing like the warmth of Padma. I can’t watch the show anymore – she’s ruined it.

No I can’t seem to get into this “Top Chef Masters” Why did they ruin a good thing. Where is Padma and Tom?

Why did they ruin a good thing, I tried to get into it but usually tuning in to something else…it’s boring to me. Where is Padma and Tom?

Like the show, can’t stand the host – no charisma whatsoever ! Why do they have to hire models anyway? This is not a game show. I’m sure that there must be a photogenic foodie out there with enough personality to come through the TV screen ! No more Hostbots (LOVE the word !!!)
