'Law & Order: SVU' season finale: Death, Stuckey, and Emily Gilmore

So what did you think of last night’s Law & Order: SVU season finale?

(Um, spoiler alert.)

I have to say, given how calm and rational every minor recurring character is on the Law & Order franchise, it didn’t surprise me that the jittery, annoying-to-Elliot-and-Olivia crime-tech Stuckey (Noel Fisher) turned out to be a killer. And I guess there are fans who’ll mourn the murder-death of forensics guy Ryan O’Halloran (Mike Doyle), but I found both of these plot turns very welcome, because they added a fresh element of uncertainty to a show that can be predictable. (There’s a nice piece about the many TV deaths of Mike Doyle in today’s New York Times.)

Most welcome of all was Kelly Bishop’s return as an imperious defense lawyer. This is an actress who knows from imperious, as her storied run as Emily Gilmore on Gilmore Girls proved.

I also recommend you watch tonight’s season finale of the oldest warhorse in this stable, Law & Order. It’s a dandy episode, a culmination of the political subplot involving Sam Waterston’s jack McCoy. It, too, has a few surprises up its sleeve. Both Waterston and Linus Roache have been especially good at getting under each other’s skins throughout this season.

Did you watch Law & Order: SVU last night? What did you think? Will you be watching Law & Order tonight?

Overacted, badly acted, ridiculous, as has become the norm for this show. I actually hate Olivia and Elliot now.

I thought the finale was great, until the last minute. I hate the fact that there’s no cliffhanger or drama going into next season, even though we know of the contract disputes.
I would of ended it with Olivia holding a gun to Elliot’s head (Stuckey’s orders).
The ending was just flat I thought.

Thought it was a neat twist (the second murder) though Stuckey going after the judge, lawyer, his co-worker and Elliott seemed a little over the top

Last night’s season finale was unforgettable!I was in shock all the way to the end.I mean, round of applause to Mariska, what a phenomenal actress,I mean after watching her last night reminds me why I love her so much! The way she smacked Elliott around, loved it cause that’s exactly how I feel sometimes. And Stuckey(Noel Fisher),that lucky bastard got to make-out with Olivia for at least 2 minutes the most so that’s a nice little present before he died.

Show was good. The cutting of Elliott was a little much, all that blood lose and he was fine? But the baby at the beginning in the park was adorable, oh wait, I’m a little bias since I know that baby (or babies, it was a twins Steven and Daniel). Good job guys and you too Beth as the nurse holding them in the hospital!! Very fun!

Now Stuckey can go back to his other lab.

    Ha-hah!

I found it ironic that Elliot’s last line was something along the lines of “what a way to end it…” Seeing as he and Mariska haven’t finalized contracts for next year, that could have been a goodbye from them!

Watched it. Enjoyed it. Thought the ending was quite predictible but again, enjoyable. Elliot’s stabbing was a little overdramatic (shouldn’t there have been more blood and a lot more yelling, the way Stucky really ripped at his chest with the first slice?). The only thing I didn’t like was the cheesy final line of “Where does it end?” Something more along the lines of “Let’s get you to a hospital!” would’ve been better.

That is a really nice piece in the NY Times.

I thought the twists were fantastic, even though a bit familiar – i.e. Bones. However, I was glad that they used a creative way to get rid of Stuckey, and VERY glad that they got rid of Stuckey. Geez, he was annoying. For me, this was an episode good enough to watch again!

I agree with Dianne. They need to get rid of Olivia and Elliot.
