OK, you’ve read my review, you’ve read my colleague (Not) Timorous Tim Stack’s numerous postings on Fox’s novel musical-comedy-something-new show, so I’d like to know: Read the full post.

Love love love it! However, I’m afraid that, like Arrested Development, Freaks and Geeks, Wonderfalls, etc. that this kind of snappy, witty writing will be totally ignored by the masses.. I’ll be tuning in for sure though!
A real winner. And something tells me that Jane Lynch will end up “stealing the show,” something she has done a lot.
I agree that I saw shades of ‘Election’, but if you can pull it off, why not? We do need more fleshing out of some characters, but it was a great start. And though there is music, it’s only on the stage or in the background. Definitely watching in the fall.
Eh, it was OK. I really don’t see what all of the fuss is about though.
GLEE was awesome! i will be tuning in!
A very, VERY good debut for Glee. (And since I’ve never seen a minute of American Idol, I clearly only tuned in for Glee).
That being said, it can/should get better. The characters were a bit cartoonish/stereotypical — again, a problem with most if not all pilots. Make them more well-rounded, real people (particularly Will’s wife, and ALL of the kids) and you have a huge hit. Plus, I love the fact that they treat glee club/show choir as what it is — somewhat nerdy/weird clearly, but also some amazingly talented people — and that the final number was NOT anywhere as good as the other school’s version of Rehab. We need to see the kids/Will struggle, grow, and improve as performers. Nail that difficult process, round out the characters, and avoid the temptation to give the two lead kids every song (although playing up Rachel’s want to sing lead all the time against the need to get others solos will be fun) and you have a HUGE hit. Go Glee!
Do you really think Glee and SVU are going to be pulling same audiences?
Glee was amazing and I can’t wait for September.
No one quits a teaching job to get better benefits. At least here in Michigan. Starting pay around
$40K and benefits to rival the UAW. But I did miss what happened right after the last commercial. Why did Schuster come back? DId he find out his wife was tricking him that fast? This show moves quickly, but I only missed about 3 minutes!
I agree, I loved it but am worried. I think the high school even had the same name as the one in Freaks and Geeks! And the kookiness reminded me of Arrested Development at times. It’s too good to last! We should enjoy it now, like Freaks and Arrested before it. I downloaded “Don’t Stop Believin” and can’t stop jamming to it!
Overall boring and forgetful. I enjoyed the dancing and singing number (of the other school mostly), but the storylines and the character interactions were sooooo forced
Bring back Fame instead… it had more personality
What I wanted was “Popular” but with singing and dancing! Didn’t get that
The jock who likes to sing. The stereotypical gay kid. The “pushy” rotund sista. The stuck up jocks & cheerleaders. God, couldn’t they come up with any more stereotypes?
There’s about 4 plots this show can have then it’s straight into the crapper.
SO bummed that the next episode isn’t until fall. I have issues with some things (cheesy lip syncing, and I’m not sure what message I should be recieving from the overbearing Tracy Flick type…she’s okay but not as good as she thinks she is and the writing seems to be treating that as a redeeming quality…what?) As a musician, this show COULD be really annoying if they focus more on the music and less on character development, because for me, the music is the worst part lol. We’ll see, totally looking forward to it.
Loved the music, thought the cast was amazing, will definitely watch again. A few things: some of the references seemed a bit dated, making me wonder when this was filmed. My hope would be that when they get into the actual season in the fall that will be taken care of. Actually, that’s really my only criticism. Can’t wait for Kristen Chenowith to make her appearance; I just wish that Jayma Mays had said some more about being born into a life of windmillery…I miss Pushing Daisies! Let’s hope Glee doesn’t go the way of the Pie Maker.
It was just wonderfully warped and wierd….loved it!
