The '24'/'Seinfeld' connection revealed!

So there I was last night, watching the season finale of 24, and I kept thinking about that long-haired creepy guy in the airport menacing Kim. You know the guy I’m talking about, right? I knew he was one of those character actors who’s been in a thousand TV shows, but there was one role in particular I knew from… but what was it?

Then, by one of those weird coincidences that can happen watching TV, later that night, I’m looking at an old episode of Seinfeld shown at 11 p.m. in New York, and sudenly there he was! He’s “Duncan Meyer,” the guy who accused Jerry of cheating in a race they had in college. Watch him talking about 3 minutes into this clip:

So in effect, Duncan Meyer, bitter at being beaten by Jerry Seinfeld (twice!), lived to migrate over to 24 and become a very bad guy.

Do you remember this actor, Don McManus, from both 24 and Seinfeld? And maybe other shows?

I’ll ask something else: When you watch TV, do you sometimes spot a supporting actor and recall some of the other shows you’ve seen him or her in?

All examples most welcome. Thanks.

omg I’m so glad i’m not the only one who does this! Sometimes I’ll have to go to imdb to figure it out. I love making connections of actors and where I have seen them before!

Ken, this is hilarious because last night and last week I was watching 24 thinking “where do I know that actor from?” I had a feeling it was from Seinfeld but I couldn’t remember which episode. Last night, like you, I was watching Seinfeld after 24 (Peachtree tv?) and two seconds into the episode, before Duncan hit the screen, I turned to my wife and went “that’s where I know him from!”

What a great episode. This clip is the best part.

My husband and I spotted Daniel Dae Kim, now playing Jin on “Lost”, on an old “Seinfeld” episode just last night. He’s one of the med students in the episode where Kramer and Mickey are making extra cash by acting out diseases. (“Gonorrhea!”)

The doctor from 24 who was trying to get the pathogen from Jack was in Stargate

Megan – Daniel Dae Kim was also one of the doctors who delivered Andrea’s baby on 90210. Strange coincidence.

I was actually trying to figure out where I knew his scene companion from — and when I looked her up, found out she was Mary Page Keller, who used to be on the early Fox sitcoms “Duet” and “Open House.”

A few months back I saw the same guy but very different parts. In the cancelled series Kings, Mark Margolis played Premiere Shaw. The same week or so he played the elderly uncle of a drug kingpin in Breaking Bad. My husband saw it even though he did not look much like the same actor in the two parts.

The guy who played the General on Prison Break is in a current commercial (sorry forget which one) the commercial actually aired during the finale of Prison Break.

President Wayne Palmer from 24 was on an episode of Lie to Me. What ever happened to Wayne on 24 anyway? They never really did say lol

The actress who played Olivia on 24 was recently on CSI:Miami, playing a waitress who lost her kids…Took me a few minutes to place her.

Here’s one for fans of old movies — in particular, an oldie that is still broadcast every Christmas season on network TV (“It’s a Wonderful Life,” of course). In the crowd scene near the end, when all of Jimmy Stewart’s friends are contributing money to rescue his savings & loan, there’s a grouchy-faced official trying to serve closure papers. His face finally brightens a bit and he joins in singing with the rest and tears up the papers. I remembered him from the cowboy movies I watched on TV as a kid in the 1950s — he played villains. Later, when I became a fan of the films written & directed by Preston Sturges, he was part of the stock company of great character actors Sturges used again and again. His name was Al Bridge. Of course the “star” of Sturges’s stable was William Demarest, Uncle Charley on “My Three Sons.”
