I couldn’t be more thrilled or shocked over Dollhouse. I agree that unlike all the other Whedon shows, this one took a bit to grow on me, but it certainly did. Can’t wait for season two.
As for TTSCC, it was really uneven. Too many episodes were dull and hard to sit through then they come back with an awesome one. I would like to see this come back for 13 just to finish off the story or even a mini series but it seems unlikely.

I am ECSTATIC that Dollhouse got renewed, but I was hoping it would get a full season. =[

i watched every episode of dollhouse and had difficult times of some episodes to understand. The last 2 were good and when i heard it got renewed, well o.k. Hope the chance they got will realllly make season 2 bring in good stories. Fox needs to renew terminator if dollhouse gets renewed with these episodes. How about fringe, whoa what a show.

I find it hilarious that listening to the consumers is some kind of new, ground-breaking way to get people to come back. I mean, I know these networks are really our only choices, but still.
Someone in a comment awhile back said that FOX should leave Dollhouse alone for another seven years or so and then just make a killing on the DVDs. Look at what happened with Firefly! It’s a Whedon thing. Leave it be!

I’m very, very happy that the networks are starting to listen to fans of quality shows. Let’s face it – if you watch The Bachlor, you’ll whatch whatever drivel shoved your way on any network, but shows of intelligence and quality are far more difficult to come by. And yes, I understand that sometimes viewers just want fluff, but that doesn’t mean that the shows that make TV worthwhile should suffer. The networks need to explore some new models! Can we get NBC to broadcast (on cable and satellite) a subscription trio, whereby the regular channel, a time shifted channel (like and hour), and special programming unique to NBC (outtakes, extras, music performances, alternatives to the Leno Hour)? Or can we just vote with out $$$ and buy a dowload (subscribe) of our favorite shows – available 15 minutes prior to airing? No one will by The Bachelor, but a lot of people would pay for shows of better quality.

@Dan – are we talking about the same “Better off Ted”? Granted, the pilot was a little iffy, then the show veered away from silly “will-they-won’t-they” territory and each character found their voice around episodes 4 and 5 with more controversial topics (the racist lighting system=BRILLIANCE). Lem and Phil ALONE make the show worth watch, and Linda got funnier every week. Ted’s a great audience proxy (especially when he’s being petty), and I will follow “Arrested Development” alums like Portia De Rossi anywhere.

I am glad to see Dollhouse renewed, it has alot of potential, and Eliza Dusku… nice…

  • Firefly

I am very happy that Dollhouse is coming back. I’m one of Whedon’s biggest fans. I always said I’d watch a cooking show if he made it. I’m still very angry about Firefly and may never forgive Fox for that one. I wish that Joss wouldn’t have come back to Fox and instead went somewhere else.
That all said, I’d trade an entire new season of Dollhouse for even ONE more episode of The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I do love Dollhouse, but it just doesn’t hold a candle to TSCC -and probably never will even if it lives to a ripe old age of 8-10 seasons. If TSCC isn’t renewed it will be a shame.
Those that claim that some of the TSCC episodes were weak probably just didn’t understand the massive character development and plot progression that was being laid out. Yes, they might not have been easy to take due to the fact that so much time elapsed between some of them due to stupid sports crap that pre-empted the show but when showed back-to-back in the DVD box set they will fly right by.

So what about renewed Veronica Mars for a 4th season in 2007 hmm CW ???
Now the networks open their eyes..
Better of Ted is good Doolhouse not really but it’s Josh Whedon (half forgiven) but be serious VM was by far far superior (at least the two first seasons). And the showrunner had (and has still hehe) very clever ideas of storyline to redeem the weak third season .
So now the movie project is in stand-by because the studios (WB)don’t want give money….WB we are in a period of financial crisis be clever for once and get the greenlight for this freaking movie, there are now lots of fan who will go to theaters.
This movie will bring in money, maybe not like the dumb blockbusters but quite some and this will be enough for this black financial period !!!!!
Be sure we don’t give up and we are very tough !!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you ABC for renewing Better Off Ted. It is the funniest and most intelligent comedy since Arrested Development. Give it a time slot where it can find an audience (NOT opposite American Idol).

  • Alison

I watch Doll House because of Joss for Nathan and Joss, I watch Chuck for Adam and Sarah Connor for Summer, etc. What is the message here? Firefly is unbeatable, in every possible catagory. It may be too late to bring it back, but maybe another movie if everybody is doing well with face time. I loathe FOX and wouldn’t EVER watch it except for Joss and the
Firefly crew. Have no fear FOX will screw up again, it’s their thing.

  • pierogyman

Fox should replace Terminator with Reaper. Perfect companion for Dollhouse.
I couldn’t warm up to Ted. Oh how I miss Arrested Development.

joss is the man. and because of that, i have tried to watch dollhouse. and i agree with most, that it was slow in the beginning BUT it has gotten better. and i love seeing some old fan fave characters (fred from angel anyone?) i hope it does well, i cannot believe joss made another fox show. stroke of genius? or worst mistake ever (second after the cancellation of firefly)?
Also, pushing daises was wonderful. and i hate that it was cancelled, people suck. and the cw sucks for cancelling veronica mars, although the 3rd season lacked and piz is no logan, it still rocked my world. i hate it when my shows get cancelled!!! :(

  • Karmer

Dollhouse in the UK is so badly advertised – It hasn’t even aired on terrestrial tv yet – I end up watching it from a friend who records it on her Sky + box. I’m sure there’s around a million or more viewers doing the same as I do – I’m glad the dollhouse is renewed. It’s a fantastic show which explores so many theories (if you want to look at it from a philosophical point of view).

Conclusion: In this digital day and age, ratings alone should not be the deciding factor in whether a show should stay or not.
It’s sad that so many copyrights and fees have to be paid for shows to be shown. They should stream shows such as the dollhouse for free. Then you will see how huge the ratings will be (if you are judging the success of the show by ratings alone).
