Even before Donald Trump parked his hair on the sofa of The View this morning, things were pretty hairy. Elizabeth Hasselbeck and Joy Behar got into a row over whether creationism should be taught in schools alongside the theory of evolution. (Guess who’s pro-creationism? And so, for the record, is Sherri Shepherd.) When Behar said that refusing the teach evolution in some schools amounted to “child abuse,” Hasselbeck went semi-ballistic. Joy: “I stand by my statement.” Elizabeth retorted, “I stand on your statement!” Huh??
(Speaking of school, Elizabeth also seems to lack certain reading fundamentals. While giving a plug to her boss Barbara Walters’ book Audition, just out in paperback, Hasselbeck said, “I opened The New York Times and was pleased to see this mention of the book.” She held up the newspaper for us to see. Um, that was an advertisement, Elizabeth: The Times made no “mention” of the book — it ran a paid ad.)
Anyhoo, Donald showed up with his bodyguard, Ivanka, and everybody made nice — too nice. After endless pleasant chatter, Trump was finally asked about the reason anyone wants to see him on a talk show: the Celebrity Apprentice explosion with Melissa Rivers’ firing.
“She thinks she’s Joan, and she’s not,” said Trump simply. That is, Melissa doesn’t have the talent her mom does. No revelation there. Then there was more polite chatter.
This had been promoted as Donald’s big return to The View after a three-year absence, with fireworks implied. Frankly, the opening Hot Topics were more sparky.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck is so freaking stupid. It is painful. It would be sad if she wasn’t paid millions of dollars to *express her opinion on national television every day*. That makes it disgusting and infuriating, instead of sad.
The best/worst part: Donald Trump simply saying he doesn’t care for Japan.
Once again Elizabeth proves her idiocy. If it wasn’t for your post, I would never know what was going on, as Elizabeth is the reason I stopped watching. Seeing her have a soapbox for her uninformed views is just to much. I’m all for opinions, just have them be thought out and researched, and not handed to you as talking points from the religious right.
Hasselbeck holding up the paid ad was priceless. She is, by far, the dumbest woman on television.
Donald Trump’s face was hideously orange. What was wrong with him and/or his makeup artist? I was ready for him to break out in an Oompa Loompa song.
The WWE’s MVP was also on the show today, wasn’t he?

Elisabeth is a well-known hack for every right wing position, but I suspect she understands basic science. Got so tired of her holier-than-thou attitudes that I seldom watch this show. Barely have watched since Sherri joined, but I cannot understand why they give this platform to such a stupid, closed-minded person. It’s an insult to thinking people. She should not have this opportunity. She is incapable of understanding. Honestly, is she retarded?
I’m glad to see so many viewers disapproval of Elizabeth and Sheri. I stopped watching the show when Sheri came on board even though I have always been horrified that Elizabeth is on the show. It’s a crime that they get paid to display their stupidity and small mindedness. I’m very disppointed in Barbara walters in letting this happen.
Oh wow so it’s ok for Whoopie and Joy to express their opinions, but as soon as Elizabeth does it’s a crime? Talk about close minded…I think you are the close minded one. If Elizabeth doesn’t agree with you, then she is stupid and shouldn’t talk? Wow hypocrites all over the place. And btw some of the things that come out of Joy’s mouth make me wonder what she is talking about. But I don’t judge her and say she shouldn’t be able to speak. They both deserve their time to speak whether you agree or not.
Regardless of whether you admire Elisabeth’s opinion wasn’t the point of The View supposed to be different views and ideas from different people who had different experiences? WHy complain about ELisabeth then? If she is stupid and foolish let that speak for itself. Her view is one of several on the show. Why complain about the one you disagree with if there are 2,3 or 4 you do agree with?
