Oh dear Paul! Sure a tortured therapist!! He’s crossed so many moral and ethical lines, that he SHOULD be worried about the pending lawsuit, and the efficacy of his license! He seems to have problems staying personally separated from his female patients, and is proving helpful to his male patients, this season. I knew April was going to fall in love with him (momentarily) and of course, Mia was a given too! He also is letting his lonliness cloud his judgement, when he told Gina that Mia could/should be the type of woman he could be attracted to…..hello Paul…..she is a mess! Don’t go there Paul!!I think he’ll be great for Oliver, who really seems to need a male friend, and John Mahoney as “Walter” is perfection! Love him! Not so in love with Diane Weist as “Gina” as I really wish she wouldn’t sound so whiny, and would ennuciate more! But still, I TIVO them all and watch them within 24 hours of taping them. Can’t wait for next episodes! I’m devoted to them!
This season is superb in every way, and I’m beginning to panic, knowing it is so short.
I watch the episodes as they air, and then again in repeat later in the week, and then if I need a hit, I watch it on demand. OK. I might be a LITTLE obsessed…
I wonder if the standing ovation I give it at the end of every ep is over the top….
I’ll have to bring it up with my therapist about it on Saturday!
And, PS, Happy Birthday to Gabriel Byrne!
I loved it when Paul took on Walter last night. He’s an obtuse bully (Walter not Paul) – had one of those for a father. Mia and April are completely infatuated (I can relate) – Mia wants a baby daddy and April wants a daddy daddy. Oliver is so sad. His father actually has the best chance of being “rehabilitated.” This show has replaced House as the best writing on tv.
I’m most definitely obsessed with this show – the acting, the writing, the characters. Gabriel Byrne is amazing. I’m also really impressed with Allison Pill’s acting. I like Season 2 even better than the first – which was terrific (thought Sophie and Alex were the most compelling characters/stories).
Each of the current storylines is compelling and intermixing Paul’s personal challenges adds to the intensity.
I also think the producers made the right call to take more creative license with the Season 2 episodes instead of the more literal translation of the Israeli series scripts approach of Season One. I think the characters are better developed and the stories more compelling.
My only complaint is that the episodes aren’t the full 30 minutes – most are under by several minutes! We need the full 30 minutes and more episodes!
I’m enjoying season 2 even more than season 1. After at first being annoyed at Mia, I find myself rooting for her. (Maybe it’s the single mom in me.) She’s obviously brilliant and in ways she’s self-aware. I was surprised that another poster questioned her ability to be a great lawyer. She’s poured all her intellect into her job and she’s good at it. As for whether she’d be a good mother—she’d try and that’s a lot right there. She’d have to give up that full-time all-the-time attorney job and get something less time-consuming. It could be a revelation for her. I’m rooting for her not to botch this pregnancy. She’s going to have to confront the destructive part her dad has played in her life. I suspect he’s behind her decision to become an attorney and devote all her life to it. I’m disturbed by the feeling of specialness that he bequeathed her. It has separated her from her mother and all other men (no one is as dear as dear old dad). I think she may see that before the season ends.
