David Letterman strolled out on stage last night with a wicked sore throat, but he soldiered on through his monologue… well, sort of. He gave up mid-way through and changed places with cue-card guy Tony Mendez, who did a pretty terrific job of delivering the one-liners:
Bandleader Paul Shaffer took over after Dave could only read #10 on the Top Ten list, delivering the yuks with the vigor of a Catskills tummler (ask your parents, kids).
Guest Jennifer Garner brought out hot tea and honey. Dave used the opportunity to do a little healing of his own, caring for Garner’s skinned knee… and arm, and hand…
Did you watch?

Nurse Garner…only in my dreams

That was cute and kinda gross at the same time
I was hoping you would pick up Garner & Letterman from last night.
Can we get her and Anne Hathaway in a movie together, as like loveable sisters who just go through life happy? I can’t think of two actresses I honestly enjoy more who just seem like decent people.
Dave rocks.
Only Dave and Conan can adlib worth anything in these situations. Who on earth could prefer suck-up, dull Leno over Dave?
what a difference a dave makes

I thought how disgusting, putting my finger on someone’s half-opened,bloody,scabby knee. Then Dave touch his face. Whatever.
Dave was a real gentleman. Thats what I would have done.
I watched the monologue and it was painful to see. He should have taken the night off but can’t blame him if Jennifer Garner was on. She should wear band aids with scabs like that. Gross!!!
Working @ a sch. w/ kids the 1st rule of thumb is always have gloves w/ u. I think she could of clean up b 4 coming out. And Dave I like u,but come on.Yeah I really can c u doing that w/ the average joe on the street..
