'Better Off Ted' vs. Pres. Obama

Categories: Television

Did you miss seeing Better Off Ted tonight because it was pre-empted for the President’s press conference? Well, the creator of the show, Victor Fresco, was a tad (a ted?) put out too — after all, Better Off is struggling in the ratings, and doesn’t need a sudden yank from prime-time to further confuse its hardy band of viewers. So he whipped up this response to the Presidential airwave-domination, in the form of a fake commercial for the show’s company, Veridian Dynamics:

Let’s face it: ABC should be renewing Better Off Ted for this spot alone. And I’ll add: Save Better Off Ted! My campaign starts now. I’ll be writing about the show again next week.

But why wait? Tell me if you want Ted renewed, please.

Heck YES I want Ted to succeed…I had expected a watered-down clone of “The Office” and instead got a workplace comedy with a style all its own. It’s incredibly depressing that ABC keeps trying to put some real originality (Knights of Prosperity, Pushing Daisies) only to have viewers settle for the same cookie-cutter procedurals and reality gruel. I’m hoping against hope Ted will be back in the fall.

“We love our country, but why should we have to do anything to help it?” Amazing! Please ABC, keep this show!

Hell yes I want it back! I’ve watched if from episode 1 and loved it.

This show is great and smart so I’m sure it will get canceled for some brainless reality dribble. ABC needs to give it a chance and PROMOTE it. Like Southland gets SO much promotion. I’m sick of Southland already and I’ve never even seen it.

That was epic. Lol. Hell yes Better Off Ted should be back! It’s a great, smart, and best of all, FUNNY show! ABC should re-air it during the dull summer months to reach a new audience. Just like Friends did after it’s first season run. It’s worth a shot.

I knew I loved this show for a reason! El hefe, classic.

    brilliant! love this show.

Ted is a great show, definitely deserves to stick around. But complaining about a RERUN being preempted is a little much. It was a great ep, but those who love the show (a group I am a member of) have already seen it!

  • Don’t downsize this show

This is a brilliant show. I hurt myself laughing when I watched it last week. If the corporate bigwigs at the network downsize Ted, workplace productivity will plummet.

That was a pretty good Veridian Dynamics ad. And yes, Better Off Ted must be saved! It is definitely the best new sitcom of the year. It’s consistently smart and funny, and while I thought it would be a cheap knockoff of The Office, it has shown that it has its own voice and its own weird sense of humor. ABC has another wonderful show on its hands and they better not cancel it.

    damn i love this show

Is is sad to admit that I watch each episode 2-3 times because it is so funny and intelligent and well done? I really hope that it gets renewed–or it not that some other brave network picks it up.

  • Karen

OMG YES PLS ABC – renew Better Off Ted. It’s one of only five comedies on the air worth watching.

  • Jason

Better Off Ted is one of the best shows on TV right now. It’s up there with 30 Rock, The Office, HIMYM, and Big Bang Theory.
The only difference being there hasn’t been a single mediocre episode yet!
This show needs time to find its audience and more importantly the audience needs time to discover this show! Think of the DVD sales. The syndication. This show has what it takes.

Awesome! It appears tonight’s originally scheduled episode is airing next Tuesday at 8PM according to my DVR. I didn’t realize how much I was loving this show until I felt genuinely annoyed at having a repeat ready for me when I sat down to watch it. This and Scrubs are my appetizer before my Wednesday evening meal of Lost.

  • Matt

Great show hope they bring it back

  • Jen

Better Off Ted is my favorite new show by a mile – I truly hope that ABC will give it a proper chance next season.

  • John

I was ambivalent at first, but episodes 4 and 5 really sold me on what a terrific show this really is. The VD (oh my God, just got that . . .) spots (OH GOD!) are so fantastic, and the show is better when it’s dealing with bolder, more controversial topics (hence the racism and disabilities episodes being my favs). I have a gut feeling that ABC will give it a 13-ep fall pickup, just to test drive it a little more. I hope that, at least.

  • BB

    SAVE BETTER OFF TED!!!

  • Mary

If you love The Office, then you will love Better Off Ted. Best new show this season.
