It looks like Susan Boyle’s got competition as Britain’s new singing sensation. WalesOnline is reporting that last night, a 12 year-old boy named Shaheen Jafargholi, who is said to have “blown away” the judges on Britain’s Got Talent with his performance of a Michael Jackson song, “Who’s Loving You.” The boy from Mount Pleasant, Swansea, sang a rich, gospel-inflected version of the song. An interesting moment occurs early on in this clip, as judge Simon Cowell stops Jafargholi’s initial song-choice and asks him if he’s got something better to sing. He does. Click here to check it out on the Britain’s Got Talent website.
The question is beginning to loom: how quickly can an American TV network start broadcasting the current season of Britain’s Got Talent over here?
What do you think of Shaheen Jafargholi?

I hope that BBC America will show this show soon so we can keep up with it. It’s great.
He is great, but I really like Susan Boyle better.
Wow! That kid is AMAZING (and absolutely adorable to boot)! Such a huge voice coming out of someone so young. He has a big career ahead of him!
The audience needs to be quiet, they are going over the singers in this show.
The question is – will his voice still be good after it changes? Maybe so, maybe not. But I don’t think he is as good as Susan Boyle.
Incredible – I was blown away too, but I still like Susan Boyle more. Hopefully both will have a singing career from this. After hearing some who won approval on American idol, I was very surprised by these two; Simon was right – Susan has competition.

He was great! Especially for a kid. And the way he maintained his poise after Simon derailed his first song was especially inspiring. No doubt this boy has a future in pop or gospel music.
Vocally, though, he’s no Susan Boyle, at least, not yet. I’m NOT trying to pick on the kid, but his beautiful voice was often flat (or otherwise off-center on notes), & accuracy counts too, regardless of the intricacy of vocal calisthenics. Anyway, just think what Shaheen Jafargholi will be able to do when he learns even better use of his extraordinary voice!
Personally, one reason I don’t usually watch these programs is my dislike of the fad that has many contestants competing to see how MANY overwrought notes they can squeeze into one single, overwrought syllable! Especially when they do that with almost every WORD in the song- that’s SHOWING OFF, not singing, and for me it messes up the song when it’s so overdone.
But the audiences always seem to like it…
Both Susan and Shaheen are very good. But Susan is already a worldwide phenomenon and her success can’t be duplicated. This kid can sing and looks to have a promising career.
Simon Cowell did the right thing stopping him. The other song was muddy and didn’t show off his voice.
One wonders why American Idol can’t have more variety. We don’t get older people or kids. Only 20-somethings who want to be the next teeny bopper heartthrob.
ah well.
Yes he is good but people here already said this segment felt staged and the UK press are now reporting this kid is far from undiscovered.
As well as acting in a few TV shows, he actually played a young Michael Jackson on a Thriller musical tour around Europe!
Of course, none of this was ever mentioned. Should he even be on? The part where Cowell asks for another song seems pre-planned.
No competition here…my vote’s with Susan Boyle…..and the drama at the beginning was all Simon Cowell’s idea…. to add more to the show….I’ve seen this kid somewhere else…..don’t know where….he’s already a professional….what’s he doing on the show.
Shaheen has talent but I agree with the others that Susan Boyle is better. Susan gave me a heartfelt reaction I did not get with Shaheen.
Susan Boyle is terribly overrated. She can hit the notes, but has no emotion in her singing. Her version of “I Dreamed a Dream” sounded happy, and it’s a song about a woman’s life falling apart around them.
