Glenn Beck at 'Twilight': Obama = Edward Cullen???

Fresh from his front-page profile in The New York Times, Fox News Channel wonder-boy Glenn Beck really revved it up on his late-afternoon live show today. He spent his first segment unfurling a bloody metaphor for President Obama’s economic policy. Asking his audience if it had seen the movie Twilight, he said it was about vampires, and “once they get their fangs in the neck, they can’t stop sucking.” He then showed a Twilight movie poster… but altered, with Obama’s face pasted over that of star Robert Pattinson as the vamp Edward Cullen.

“The government is full of vampires suck[ing] the life-blood out of the American economy!” said the excitable Beck. (I’ve seen him tear up on camera, as the Times piece mentions he does on occasion, but today he held back the flow. Maybe because he also said this afternoon he was going to tell us of further outrages that would cause “blood [to] shoot directly out of your eyes!” Perhaps he thought his own peepers would start brimming with crimson if he cried today.)

Beck is certainly a hoot. He’s really good at making you feel he’s speaking directly to you, the hallmark of an effective communicator.

But Obama as a brooding vampire? Well, Beck does subtitle his show, “The Fusion of Entertainment and Enlightenment,” so it must be true, right?

Do you watch Glenn Beck? Have any opinions about him?

He’s an idiot. Bring me something better from the GOP so I can get behind it.
Beck has clearly forgotten the 8 years of chaos Bushy Boy left.

I really like Glenn Beck. His radio and tv shows are informative and funny. He does a great job explaining conservative principles.

I really like Glenn Beck. I think think he has well-formed and well-informed opinions (note: i said “opinions”). I may not agree with him, but he always tells his truth in a digestible way. He never makes me feel like I’m an idiot for agreeing or disagreeing with him — and that’s a lot coming from someone on Fox News

If Beck is an idiot, how did he predict the housing bubble, the recession, the fall of the dollar, and the entire situation being blamed on capitalism about two years ago. How many Republicans or Democrats did that.

Beck is fantastic! I watched his show today, and I loved his analogy of the government as blood-thirsty vampires. Classic! He’s informative, and entertaining.

Beck is a whackadoodle. The tearfest the other week also made him look like an emotionally unstable whackadoodle.

This is the type of ‘news’ that is brining down the learning curve for the entire country. Pure TRASH, as is anyone who watches.

    Parents love him.
I think he’s just really angry.
And seriously? Mixing Stephanie Meyer, the woman who said she had dreams about vampires and wrote about it, with our country’s president? Such a smooth segue.

Fox News is really no better than TMZ or The National Enquirer, only it pretends to be intelligent. People who watch the channel don’t even realize that it should be classified as a guilty pleasure, on par with swaying to the soothing sounds of Kenny G. Fodder for the next Timothy McVeigh.

How long will the Bush bashers carry on? 2 yrs, 4 years, 20 years? He is gone! Liberals are just a bunch of whiny babies who think they are superior. It’s like a whole class of people with “fill in here” envy.
dashiki , I challange you on any IQ quiz in existance. This “trash” heap can bury you after two questions>)

OH Jason, Glenn isn’t part of from the GOP. He makes that very clear so don’t worry. And if you ever watched or listened to him you would know that he never encouraged or was behind ‘Bushy boy.’

If you want the young people of this nation to understand, you have to speak in terms that they understand, hence the Twilight metaphor. Our nation has changed drastically in the past 3 months, and I fear that we may never recover from these changes. That’s not to say that the past 8 years were a bed of roses. No one, right or left, is denying that. I love my country and I wish that the current administration would uphold the Constitution, as they were sworn in to do, instead of using it as a doormat. My suggestion to anyone who wants to know the truth is to look at both sides, and then choose right over wrong. Listen to conservative radio, watch the evening news, listen to Air America, but most importantly EDUCATE YOURSELF! Don’t put on your blinders and continue to hope for change. You may not like what you see when you take those blinders off.

Jason, Your comment insinuates that Beck is GOP, Wrong! You said that Beck forgot about what Bush did. Is that he brings up Bush’s mistakes every few days?
Dashiki, Beck has never said he is a news hour. In fact he has been emphatic that he is an Opinion show.

Glenn Beck is a refreshing change from the mainstream media. He is right on and is a true American. His delivery method captures attention and his message needs to be captured by all of us.
