Jimmy Fallon's 'Saved By The Bell' reunion petition: lame or not-lame?

Tags:

Last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, the always-bowling-for-a-strike host tried a new stunt: an online petition for a Saved By The Bell 20-year cast reunion on his show. He brought out a clammily enthusiastic Mr. Belding (Dennis Haskins), and together they implored Tifanni Thiesson, Dustin Diamond, and the rest of the cast of that lousy but nostalgia-beloved sitcom to get back together.

Me, I thought this was Fallon at his lamest. He was trying to do something new, but it felt like a bit Conan O’Brien would have done ten years ago, only funnier. On the other hand, I wouldn’t be surprised if the reunion comes off; if he gets Elizabeth Berkley to agree, the rest will probably fall into line.

What do you think? Will you sign the petition? Or just switch over to Craig Ferguson?

  • Wow!

I didn’t realize Fallon’s talk show was still on the air. It looks like his show will outlast Chevy Chase’s! You go, Jimmy!

ya im signing that petition! i love saved by the bell. its the show i grew up with

Um…I don’t think they would have brought this up if it wasn’t already confirmed. I feel that everyone has probably already agreed to do it, and they will just spread out the reunion over a few months – typical Hollywood. Though I do wish they would have a real class reunion TV-movie or something. Would love to catch up with the best of Bayside!

    Sweet Jesus, that’s lame!

I’m totally down. This is an awesome idea. I’m just not sure I want to see Dustin Diamond anywhere ever. The rest of them – bring em on.
I’ve gotta say that first episode of Jimmy scared me, but I have been pleasantly surprised since. He’s actually very good and fun on Late Night. Slow Jammin’ the news might be my favorite segment ever on late night.

i was a kid of the 90s, and i’ve wanted a Saved By The Bell reunion for years. so if it happens, AWESOME. =)

    LAME!

This is definitely reminiscent of Conan, specifically his on-air campaign to get “Dirty Dancing” re-released in theater’s for it’s anniversary. I would not be surprised if the reunion is already planned and the petition is just a drawn-out publicity stunt.

As a 90s kid I would love it. I think it’d be awesome nostalgia.
I feel like Mario Lopez, Lark V., Tiffany Thiessan, and Mark Paul Gosslar would probably be down since they haven’t made mad fools of themselves and two currently have successful shows on the air, but I think it would be a blow to everyone’s cred and image to be seen on stage with Dustin Diamond who has become a sex tape and reality star would do no one good to associate with.

I still watch Saved By The Bell every morning before I go to school. We have in-depth discussions of High School V. College eps (and so forth) during homeroom. That’d be freakin’ awesome!
On the other hand, no one beats Craig Ferguson’s opening monologue. No one. I love that guy!

Appallingly lame. The fact this show is even in reruns is lame. The master reels and all the copies should have been burned after the final show. Even the detestable college years series too!

  • Jake

Lame and especially so when contrasted with this:

  • Dr. Mary Pat Jordan

Jimmy Fallon is lame and not funny!

  • Annie

Uh Ferguson, definetly. Ferguson is hilarious. I can’t wait until Conan’s tonight show starts, I miss him LOL. I think Jimmy Fallon just needs time to find his groove.

  • Tiffany

I think it would be awesome if they all agreed to do it. I’m a 90s kid all the way and still love the show, even the college years. Go Zack and Kelly!
