To all the people who say Obama needs to get back to work, and is wasting time going on Leno, I ask you this…do you work 24/7? I understand he’s the president and we’re experiencing very hard and trying times in our country, but when work gets too much for you, don’t you take a little time to blow off some steam?? Take a vacation day?? Spend time with family and friends?? Geeze people, he’s human. If he didn’t take some time off I would question his sanity. It’s nice to see that this country is being run by a human being for a change, who slips up and maybe isn’t always PC.
hey dumb and backward…it’s self INVOLVED, not evolved. you’re a sharp one.
Obama did fabulous! He shows that he’s connected, quick, human, and real (GOP get a clue). For all of those idiots who continue to nitpick and find blame – go stick your heads in the toilet and flush. No ones perfect, but he’s damn close. Thank God for America, we finally have a President who is something to be proud of.
Yes everyone needs time off, however how many of us have employers buy us a plane like Air Force One and Fly us where ever we want to go and appear on a talk show? As a taxpayer we footed the bill once again, he could have drove to New York and appeared on David Letterman and save the Taxpayer a ton of money (David however was bumped due to basketball game, how coventent). I find his appearence ditastefull and his reference of the American People as Simmon Cowel out of line, did he forget it is “We the People” and We are his employer and it is our job to evaluate his position and preformance!!!!!!!!!!!
The Employer
They should just take all that money they are throwing at the banks, auto makers, etc… and give it to the American public. 1.??? Trillion? I think the people would know how to spend it better. People would pay off their credit debt thus freeing up the lending market to lend more freely. Houses would be paid off and, OH MY GOD, the forclosures would go down. Tell me, doesn’t this make more sense than the rich getting all the bailout?
I have a strange feeling that Ken Tucker is not a Jay Leno fan.
Tucker, your criticism of Leno’s performance/questions last night is idiotic. If he had asked ONLY the inane, softball questions you suggested, you would have skewered him today for wasting an opportunity to “grill” Obama about the current crisis (I think you’re confusing “The Tonight Show” with “Meet The Press”). But since Leno DID encourage Obama to talk about it, you’re not happy with the way he asked his questions! You really are an idiot, aren’t you?
And, to imbecile extraordinare JC– who will obviously always hate Obama–and who posted that his appearance on the show as akin to “Nero fiddling while Rome burns”: it was a half hour chat on a TV show–shorter than most people’s lunch break every day. Get over it.
The President can’t catch a break — either he’s taking on too much with the economy, the stimulus package, the proposed mortgage fix, withdrawing troops from Iraq, closing Guantanamo, etc., or he’s slacking off by making an appearance on Leno or taking 10 minutes to fill out his NCAA bracket. How much more do you want him to do? He’s only one man, for goodness sake! Let’s not forget that he has to work with Congress to really get the economy turned around — and we all know how great they are at getting problems fixed quickly. Stop your whining and focus your anger at the people who got us all in to this mess: the governments OF THE LAST TWENTY YEARS pumping up the housing market and encouraging people to by homes they couldn’t afford, the banks for being greedy and encouraging unqualified people to buy these houses, and the people buying houses they knew they couldn’t afford and who didn’t read the contracts they were signing because they wanted something too good to be true.
Remember this was recorded. not live. What was edited out? Obama without a teleprompt? I doubt it. We neesd a president not a TV personality! And we need a good one not what we got!
I enjoyed Obama’s appearance at Tonight show. His body language, his flowing conversation and his appearance as healthy individual tells me that he is very intelligent man and that is what we need. I am tired of old, Alzheimer suffered, but worse than anything else is corrupt politicians in Capitol.
please get a grip and stop being so ultra damned sensitive about everything. Obama was hilarious and I loved it.
I president is confident enough to appear on the show and i am confident enough in him that any comments he made were not intended to hurt and people r always looking for fault in him get a life
Leno threw softball questions? No! When has he ever done that?
Honestly, I’m still a little miffed Obama had to kowtow to Leno’s Mid-Western audience. Letterman deserves more respect. Book Obama on Letterman and the audience would’ve followed.
Look people, it is what it is. He wasn’t appearing on Meet the Press, this was the Tonight Show. The banter was appropriate and entertaining. I personally appreciate the efforts of the President and First Lady to connect with the people (whether you like them or not) and be far more accesible than his predecessor who holed up in the ivory tower and had a contentious relationship with the press and the American people in general. Regarding the joke about the Special Olymics – lighten up! It was self-deprecating humor, it wasn’t intended, nor did I interpret it to be, a joke at the expense of the organization or it’s participants. This President remains tremendously popular despite the terrible mess he’s inherited. He’s personable, witty, charismatic, and sincere in his efforts. There’s a level of transparency we’ve never had before. There will be mistakes, we’ve already seen some, but I believe in him as a person and a President. Hope he makes more appearances like this.
Who cares about the venue he appeared on? Leno or Couric…President Obama still doesn’t answer questions with anything other than cute responses. There is rarely any substance. Does anyone care that he and the democrat lead Congress are the one’s who are responsible for the AIG bonus debacle? Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., who chairs the Senate’s banking panel admitted he inserted language in the passed stimulus bill that shielded the AIG bonuses.
Dodd said the administration (THIS IS BARAQ OBAMA) insisted he change his proposal — aimed at limiting executive pay, including bonuses — so that it would only apply to future agreements. That cleared the way for the AIG payouts.
WAKE UP AND START MONITORING WHAT YOUR GOVERNMENT IS DOING!
Seriously? The President can’t catch a break? I dare you to find bad (mainstream) press on the guy. He can do no wrong! He’s the most perfect president ever! Ugh. I’m over it.
