give him a chance, ken. i thought he did a “B” or “B-” night. lick it was hideous, but the slow jammin segment had me giggling. his monologue wasn’t so bad. but please, never invite van morrison back. i couldn’t understand a bit of what he rambled.

I’ll admit I liked the slow jam news segment. The only somewhat original and humorous thing to come out of the show so far. Also, if they do another “lick it” sketch, I’m never watching again.

I’m a die-hard Conan fan, but even I was entertained by the show. Really, the only disappointment for me was DeNiro, who just seemed like he didn’t want to be there and was clearly turning in a favor.
Conan started out awkward, Jay is STILL tough to watch 95% of the time, and Craig Ferguson’s show only became watchable about 2 years ago (?) when he started winging his monologues. I’m willing to give Fallon some time to work out the kinks.
And for the record, I thought “Lick it for 10″ was hi-larious. It’s 1AM, guys. It’s not supposed to be super-intellectual or high-brow.

Fallon was clearly nervous but let’s give him a chance. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Roots there.
The biggest thing I noticed with Fallon compared to other talk show hosts is that Fallon doesn’t seem to have the ability to take control over a conversation the way Letterman, O’Brien, and Leno are able to do. It just seemed strange to see Fallon interviewing DeNiro… it was like a little kid trying to interview a legend. And I agree, DeNiro as his first guest was probably not the best idea. You could almost hear a sigh of relief as Timberlake came in and cooled the tense atmosphere.

Was it better or worse than “In The Thicke Of The Night” (Alan Thicke’s disastrous failed ’80s late night talk show)? I don’t remember. I’m only 32. But it wasn’t as good (((Chevy Chase’s))) attempt! I say no more……

Jimmy might turn out to be great, but I will stick to Craig Ferguson. He always makes me laugh.

Lili said; “Have you any of you people seen the first Leno? Letterman? Conan?
They all sucked in the beginning.”
No they didn’t except Leno. Letterman’s first Late Night was classic. Even his first morning show was good. Conan was actually very good at first for a relatively unknown. Only Leno, even with his years of guest hosting was terrible and is still terrible. Fallon had all this time to prepare and do test shows and he comes up with this?
To be fair, they wasn’t many guest hosting opportunities for Fallon but with his SNL experience and all this time to prepare, it is still surprising it was that bad.

I really, really wanted Jimmy to do well tonight, but after watching this first show, I’m not sure what to expect now.
I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that it’s his first night, but with months to prepare, I wanted more. From the opening monologue to “Lick It for $10″ to the skits, it was painful to watch. Justin Timberlake did his best to save a sinking ship, but it felt like 2 steps forward and 400 steps back.
My only saving grace was that I recorded it onto my DVR, so I could fast-forward through the truly painful parts. I’m willing to tune in tomorrow night to see Tina Fey, but if things don’t (or can’t) pick up, then it’s going to be a LONG, LONG 3 months until the Tonight Show with Conan begins.

I’ll have to catch Jimmy on Friday, because I work early. Give him a chance to get his legs under him. It usually takes a while before people catch on to him. So far, no one has said it was anywhere like the Magic Hour.

Fallon who. Ferguson has been the one for me since the show where he paid tribute to his late father. I’ll take Craig and his puppets over Fallon any day.

I’m going to give Fallon a fair chance. I’ll give him until Conan comes back on June 1st before I decide if I’ll continue watching him. More than likely, my aversion to Fallon will kick in and I’ll stop watching him for good. But, if he were to surprise me with some great material, then I’d be in for the long haul.

Hold on a minute! I don’t give tiny rats ass about Fallon. I am beside myself after reading that The Roots is his house band. Is this gonna be a permanent thing? I adore The Roots, but if they’re gonna sell out like this i’m ready to smash all my Roots albums. ?uestlove reduced to Max Weinberg status?! Please tell me that this engagement is just for a week!

    boring and unfunny

    Awesome show.
Kudos to the different slow jam news…I can tell Jimmy is WAYY more comfortable with skits and all…and if thats what he has to do..why not? Latenight can use something different..
The only thing that ruined his monologue was the retarted ass crowd who was nonresponsive and random people shouted out random things.
    Overall, I’ll keep watching.

Just so you know Space Train wasn’t taped…I went to the show last night and they did it live they ran from their chairs into their costumes and them back.
