Looking ahead to your Sunday TV choices, I’m going to make a small plea: Don’t fall for the latest edition of Celebrity Apprentice (Andrew Dice Clay, really? Khloe Kardashian, really?). Instead, give the new Tom Selleck TV-movie Jesse Stone: Thin Ice a try instead. I gave the movie an A- in the pages of EW, and you can see a preview of it here:
Selleck’s portrayal of a sarcastic, stubborn, in-denial-alcoholic police detective is first-rate. Plus, the guy is still funny, as his appearance earlier this week with Jon Stewart (himself clearly a Selleck fan) proves (about 15 minutes in):
So when Sunday night rolls around, just remember: You do have an alternative to Donald Trump: a good murder mystery. You must agree that Tom Selleck is a more appealling human than the Trumpster, right?

I can’t wait for Sunday night. I am a huge fan of both Robert B. Parker and Tom Selleck. The first 4 Jesse Stone movies were all great. I’m glad CBS is finally airing this one, I think it was shot in 2007. A sixth movie “Jesse Stone – No Remorse” has also been shot. I would love to see CBS do 1 or 2 of these a year.
Not sure Trump is even still in the running to be considered a ratings threat to anything worth watching. Dude shot himself in the foot a long time ago.
I really enjoy the Apprentice. The last celebrity season was great, I came to like Trace Atkins (such a nice guy!) because of it. Plus I love Joan Rivers! I miss her so much doing the red carpet. Let the fun begin. I think I’ll gladly pass on Magnum in the special tv movie of the week.

You’ll never catch me watching “reality TV”. Jesse Stone, here I come! I’ve loved all those films, and also Appaloosa, also a Parker-novel-turned-film.

I will be watching”Mr.Tom Selleck” I have been a fan always,& was disappointed when “sleth” network to take the reruns of Magnium,P.I. off the airwaves. But then I do not have as much money as my 14yr. has!!!!
That’s what DVR’s are for…if someone wants to watch both Tom and The Donald, it is entirely possible.
I’ll watch Tom anytime, anyplace, anywhere. Apprentice is ok…but I’m not excited at all about Joan and Melissa Rivers being on the show.
Jon Stewart and Tom Selleck are too funny. I love their laughs. Great video. And how sexy is Tom Selleck still?? Of course Jon is sexy as usual! Love men who can laugh!
I plan to watch both. However, Tom is Number One.
I loved him on Magnum P.I. and was sad to see him end that series, but was glad he was going to get married and have a life. I enjoyed seeing him on the Las Vegas series ro and was sorry to see that series end..
I have enjoyed the Stone movies. On the talk show circuit this week, he said that Stone movie number six just wrapped up but he did not know when it would be released. He also said it was a terrible year for his avocado farm so he has an “incentive” to keep working.
I don’t have a problem with Trump. Just not a fan of Celebrity Apprentice. I don’t really like any of the celebs on this season. As for the Stone movies, I’ve seen the last 2 and they were really good.
No matter what he does, Tom Selleck is the best of the best!!!! I’ve loved him since magnum pi and have tried to watch him whenever he’s in anything!!! Can’t wait for Jessie Stone Sunday nite!!
Why oh why are these two shows back? A lame movie has a sequel? A lame series that died in the ratings survives? I JUST DON’T GET IT! And then they wonder why ratings are so down.
