I’m not impressed by the alligator accomplishment. Once it’s cooked, you can’t tell the difference between it and chicken!

I wanted Carla. Part of me just didn’t want Stefan to win because he expected to win. Hosea started out a favorite of mine but turned into one of my least favorites — though I kind of pity him for his personal mistakes. I just really wanted Carla to win!

Stefan was most certainly neither arrogant or rude. He had a very dry sense of humour which most Americans simply don’t comprehend. He actually was funny, gracious and self-depricating. Most of all he was by far the best chef. Only Fabio and Carla came close. Hosea are you friggin kidding me. What a joke. Tom C. calls the shots and he clearly is one of those “little Americans”. His chauvinism showed through. You could really tell in the previous show when he made the comment about “team Europe”. What a disgrace, I won’t watch again.

I think that when Padma said “well i think carla is out of the running..” I just thought that was so rude!! Sure, her souffle didn’t work but she also had two good courses! they can’t just throw someone out like that, it was just rude.

Those who think Stefan should have won based on past performance don’t understand the judging rules. Those where each episode stood on its own merit. They could not consider performance during previous ones. Otherwise winners of previous episodes would have the unfair advantage of a ‘halo effect’.
For the finale, past performance could be considered in the case of a tie, such as two for Stefan and two for Hosea. Three of the four judges declared Hosea to have the slightly better three course meal. Thus, no tie, no consideration of past performance.
As Toby Young noted in his blog on the show taste judging is subjective. He noted during the show venison was all of the rage in England now and he was a bit sated with it. Could that have affected his judging of Hosea’s venison dish? Hosea went with one course with scallops – pretty well a staple in past episodes, yet carried it off quite well.

The Gods smiled on Hosea three times: He drew the #1 knife, allowing him to choose his saus chef. He found the baby in the dessert, allowing him to not only pick his surprise appitizer, but to assign the other two. He chose not to do a dessert – where Carla and Stefan failed.

I have been a fan of TC since the very first season, but if Toby Young comes back as a regular judge next season I may just give up the show for good.
Pointless, meandering criticisms should be saved for the butterscotch pudding served at the old folks’, not a serious competition!

I will say it again, STEFAN WAS ROBBED! Tom Colicchio hated stefan because Stefan had that cool confidence that a knowledgeable chef has….they always say if you met your twin on the street, you would despise him.
Stefan obviously doesn’t have problems working with other chefs, he worked fine with Marcel, a chef known to be more arrogant than Chef Steven!
Colicchio nitpicked on his perfectly sliced fish and perfectly presented dessert, but Hosea’s totally lame appetizer was hated by all, yet he wins anyway. Whaaaaa???
