Naw, I’m not talking about Kyle Chandler’s Coach Taylor. I mean D.W. Moffett’s Joe McCoy, the blowhard-bully dad of the Dillon Panthers’ new “QB1,” J.D. Read the full post.

Friday Night Lights has got to be one the best television shows on tv right now. The cast is brilliant, the writing brilliant — even the location is brilliant. I love this show. I’m with the poster whose husband practically hands out dvds — it I could afford it I would do that as well.
Love this show! I totally wish I could influence the ratings, such a shame living in a country where the best show on television doesn’t air.
I’m beyond frustrated at the horrendous ratings this show pulls in. I’ve converted everyone I know and everyone who watches this show has nothing but good to say about it? WHY won’t people give it a chance! Thank you EW for continuing to fly the FNL rocks banner… To those of you who don’t watch… stop it… WATCH NOW!

Moffett is really great…this is by far his best. We certainly shouldn’ forget Kate M. either, they make a strong….sexy….couple.
You may be right about Moffett as TV’s best bad-dad. The showdown with Coach Taylor, when it comes, should really be something.
This is the best show currently on TV. It is painfully good. I say painfully because I’m so afraid it won’t get picked up next year. Is there anyone who has actually watched this show who doesn’t love it? NBC — promote this better!
You’re so right, Ken. Joe McCoy is a great villian. Can’t wait for the inevitable confrontation with Coach Taylor, one of the best male role models ever in television.
I agree with you, Ken. Moffett is fantastic playing creepy dad Joe McCoy. And considering that this show is a veritable showcase of creepy dads – Matt’s dad and Buddy come to mind – that’s saying a lot. This is the best show on TV and that is mostly due to the creation of such wonderful and believable (not always likeable) characters.

where is the cast blog from this past friday’s episode? i’ve been waiting with great anticipation for it!
What happened to the guest blogs?
He kinda reminds me of JR Ewing of Dallas. He’s got all that money and wants to control every aspect of his son’s life. And the son is young enough that he wants to please his dad. He doesn’t really see his dad as a bad guy. But I really like Katy McCoy. She knows he can be controlling. And she kinda runs interference for her son JD. I love Friday Night Lights and everyone on the show including “the King Of Suds” Joe McCoy. He’s a Great Bad Guy but he ain’t no Buddy Garrity.
