I have watched parts of the Idol show and this is just one of the sorry excuses that the network uses to fill up space as well as the talk shows and reality shows. If we could just start a movement to give up this idol of television that we pray to each night?
Yeah…BAD last nite. Even the 3 who are moving on werent that good — whomever they turn out to be! HA

Waitaminute, I’m confused. Was it a singing show with commercials or it a commercial show with intermittent footage of poor singing? Seriously. Help me out here.
Only one way to stop American Idol, and all the other ridiculous excuses for music that pervade our airwaves – don’t buy it. You want better? Then demand better. It’s not snobbery, it’s having taste.
I frankly don’t see how anyone can watch Idol. The degradation and humiliation that is bestowed upon the contestants is something I can’t enjoy seeing. Simon’s little act has gotten really old. I seem to be the only one in my office who doesn’t watch this ridiculous show. I would rather watch Discovery or NatGeo.
I agree, I watch the show b/c my wife loves to watch the train wreck shows. I have to admit, some people on the audition shows need to get some honest help from a professional psychiatrist. Last night’s show was a joke. Sting & the Police-untouchable? I played in bar bands and we rocked songs by the Police & Sting. Danny’s Heroes? I don’t think so, but he was the best of the night, which is sad. Randy needs to expand his vocabulary. Simon is at least honest, HE IS THE DRAMA QUEEN so it takes one to know one when it comes to Tatiana-who needs to be gone! Although she was the 3rd best girl there.
Last nite was the wrost show I have seen . Every year the talent gets worst. It is time for AI to go off the air.
I like the show. I initially didn’t watch because I thought it was a stupid premise but I/we got interested after seeing/hearing some really good vocals. I couldn’t do it without my DVR. I skip past Ryan Seacrest and the other lame commentary. We condense the show to less than half of the original length. People don’t like this show for very good reason. It has an absurd format and they patronize the audience. The hype makes me ill. Without a DVR we couldn’t do it. Those that hate the show have good reason. Editing with a DVR makes it tolerable.
Alexis Grace was phenomenal last night and that was about it. I know it was the first live show of the season but they really need to get it together. The camera angles were horrible and never really matched what was goin on. Pretty sub-par all around last night.
My wife and I watch every year, but we DVR the show and watch it the following night. So today is Wednesday – tonight we’ll watch last night’s show and skip through all the commercials. It saves so much time. So our Idol nights are Wednesday’s and Thursday’s. Who cares if we don’t watch it live! Now we get to keep that extra hour of our lives by avoiding all the commercials. Thanks DVR!!
yep- it’s reached the ridiculous phase. Actually, it did the year they had Sanjaya in my opinion. And, i believe that’s the year the ratings started to slip. Sure, it’s still sits at about 25 million viewers…but I think they were in the low-mid 30′s for awhile during season 5. Sanjaya ended it for me. I tuned in last night to see how it was going- that talk to their parents or significant other thing is RIDICULOUS. Now I know not to watch for another 2 months.
What a sad night for AI. So many good singers sent home for so many bad singers showcased last night, but i do have to say that Danny was awsome!!! Oh how i can’t wait for NORMAN!!!
The thing that really annoys me is that they keep putting through singers who did a really good job in the original audition, and then just did good enough to get through the rest of the cutbacks. I don’t think they should allow a singer to get through based on one good audition, and the rest are very average. I was able to watch AI and another show almost in its entirety last night because I knew it would be 5-10 minutes between singers, because of commercials. The singers had 1:20 to sing and then the judges evaluated them for 5 minutes each, what a waste of time!!
I have read all of the comments regarding “American Idol”. I usually don’t get into the show till they have been narrowed down to 36 as they have done this year. Personally I enjoy seeing many of this singers who can actually sing! Not all of them, by any means but there are at least three which have unique voices and great belief in how they sing. I do get very sick of the commericals, so my husband and I tape it and then watch the show so we can skip the commericals. I think Paula talks to much and I think Simon is usually right on the money about the performance although he is too harsh. He has probably discouraged many a good artist because of the heartless way he states his comments but I do appreciate his honesty.
Thank you
just how hard can it be to narrow down
to the best homoginized singing robot?
idol has gone fishin’ with dynamite. lite a stick and throw it in the water, after the blast, wait a few seconds and all the fish float to the top. then you just scoop ‘em up.
the only way you could get more braindead by watching idol would be a lobotomy, and that might be an improvment.
