Angelina Jolie saves SNL last night

Tags:

Pretty lame Steve Martin-hosted edition of Saturday Night Live last night, I thought. That is, except for Abby Elliott’s excellent Angelina Jolie moment…

Do you agree?

LOL! Abby Elliot shows talent is indeed genetic. Her Jolie impression was awesome!

really embarrassing SNL for all involved last night excepting, of course, abby’s angelina. spot-on.

I don’t agree that it was lame. I though it was one of the better ones of the season that I’ve seen. I laughed several times. Yes, there were some clunker sketches – there always are. But I liked, laughed at the opening sketch, the pampers sketch, Laser Cats, Angela Jolie and Fred Armisan as David Patterson. I also liked the sketch with the 4 women singing. Does anyone else think those women actually sing better than half the contestants put through to Hollywood on American Idol over the past few weeks? And Steve Martin’s monologue was hilarious. I could have done without his song though.

snl has been so bad lately….they better hold hold to kristin wiig cause thats one of the only reasons im still tuning in…if it was 4 the angelina spoof, i wouldve been comatose

my thoughts exactly! Abby’s Angie was so great! and everything else was cringe worthy. but Jason Mraz was wonderful as always.

I agree…the Angelina bit was one of the only times I even chuckled slightly. Laser Cats was OK too, but overall, it was just a terrible show. I kept fast forwarding the DVR saying “this is so not funny at all!”

last night’s episode wasn’t their worst, but it definitely wasn’t the best. SM’s opening monologue was good, and no sketch (except that one with SM as a cosmetic salesman) made me cringe. So that’s saying SOMEthing!

I though last nights episode was pretty good, except for the music. I still don’t like Fred Armisen’s Obama, but I LOVE his David Patterson.

okay guys it wasn’t THAT bad. Much better than hey-did-you-know-Rosario-Dawson-is-hispanic episode two weeks ago. I loved the opening obama sketch, the pampers, david patterson, angelina jolie…oh never mind maybe there wasn’t that much good stuff last night lol. The Bernie Madoff sketch sucked and so did Kenan’s Issues. I usually stop watching after Weekend Update cause that rest is usually crap. And I love you Kristin Wiig, but your characters have started to all be the same! That weird wife thing last night sucked too. Show more of the two new girls (whose names I’ll eventually learn.) I laugh almost every time they’re on screen.
And I’m going to pretend that that weird Steve Martin Banjo thing never happened.

What was fascinating for me was the crossover of the Magruber segments into the ad world — three little segments, like always but these aired sandwiched between other ads — and also featured Macguyver himself, as Richard Dean Anderson stepped in with a cameo. But the pepsi schtick was still funny enough; to bad the rest of the show was more miss than hit.

What a horrendous episode! (Full disclosure: I watched it at 4am after a night of Red Bull/vodkas!) The only time I laughed was the Angelina impression, the Governor Patterson impression, and, for some reason, Keanan’s “Issues” skit. It’s funny how the hosts you think are going to be great usually aren’t while John Malkovich’s episode from this season was unexpectedly hilarious.

…oh yeah, and I’m almost positive I hallucinated that entire banjo sequence but I’m not sure. Please tell me I did!

    one word:
    sad.
except for most of weekend update and Jason Mraz… it was just….sad

  • drew

a joke about angelina jolie involving babies, how original!

    Laser Cats 4… ever!!!!
